Why are people buying coach bags again?!
Hello friends! Today I want to share my thoughts on why people are buying coach bags again? In my mind, coach were never unpopular or unfashionable. Us, millennials (and older) have always loved them, but I think they have had an increase popularity recently because they have been found by a new generation; Gen z. Which make them seem like they are newly popular, but actually, we never stopped loving them.
Why do Gen Z love coach?!
Coach are the brand that Gen Z can’t get enough of and I want to share why… I’m a millennial long-term coach lover and collector. I think I can share my knowledge with you! Let’s chat!!!
Gen z are those who were born between 1997 and 2012, so they are aged around 13 to 27 (at the time of writing) which makes them the perfect age to be excited about fashion and able to buy some investment pieces. Probably not old enough to buy brands like Chanel, Hermes & Louis, but the perfect age for luxury brands like coach. Speaking of which, I don’t think Gen z even aspire to the top tier brands, as those brands are trying to capture Gen z and are struggling. Kinda funny, coach can do what Louis can’t!
But seriously… why do Gen z love coach?!
I think Gen z girlies love coach for a multitude of reasons. First of all, the quality; I’ve been saying this for years but the quality of coach bags ALWAYS hits!!! It just does!! Their leathers, their craftsmanship, it’s just so good! Plus, when you factor in that Gen z have grown up with more fast fashion than any other generation, you can see why they are craving quality over clever branding. And guess what, coach have the quality and they also have cool branding.
Another reason I think coach is so popular with Gen z is because of their designs. If you are into laid back minimalist styles then you will love bags like the Brooklyn. But if you are a maximalist and you want something super fun, then the Tabby or even pieces from the Coachtopia range is perfect. Coach have very cleverly created a bag for nearly all styles.
Plus, coach give us so much bang for our buck when it comes to styling our bags. Take the tabby bag, it comes with a long shoulder strap, which can be worn over the shoulder or crossbody. Finally, coach have that IT factor. There’s not many brands who can price their bags at under £500 and have as many celebs as coach do wear their bags. Seriously, the list of celebrity fans is utterly endless. How do they do it?! They have the It factor! It turns out, celebrities love coach as much as we do. Coach is about quality and design, not cost. Which is why you will find so many celebrities wearing coach bags, but so few wearing designer bags which are sold at similar price points.
Coach have it all
Coach have it all; quality, craftsmanship, adaptability, practicality, playful designs, timelessness, heritage status and desirability. They are neither ‘mall-girl’, nor are they ‘snobby’ they are for the girls; the cool girls, the effortless girls and the girls who just want to buy a nice handbag and wear it every day for the next 10 years.
Ageless appeal
The interesting thing about coach is that women (and men) of all ages love the brand; from 15 year old girls to 70 year old women, and even if you buy your first coach bag at 17 with your saved up pocket money, by then time you get to 40 and you can afford the Chanel bags, you still love coach and now they sit proudly next to your chanello’s. Women grow out of many other bag brands, but coach grow with you and I think the reason for that is the quality and timelessness of the brand.

cons: slightly inconsistent leather quality if you buy one of the cheaper styles, some bags retain their value better than others
