Vintage patchwork jacket… a wish-list find from Vinted!
Hello friends! Today I want to have a chat about my new-to-me vintage patchwork jacket! I found it on vinted and I am so thrilled with it, that I had to share it! Let’s chat!
Let’s start at the beginning
A couple of years ago I found a vintage 70s patchwork jacket in a charity shop for around £4 and I didn’t buy it because it wasn’t my size. I kept thinking about it and when I went back a week later it was still there! I honestly couldn’t believe it, so I snapped it up and decided I would offer it to my sister or keep it for Mary until she was older. Side note, I’ve been slowly buying a vintage wardrobe for Mary for when she’s older.
As expected, my sister loved it and wore it loads. But as time went on, vintage patchwork jackets became more and more fashionable and I felt really jealous that I didn’t have one myself! So I started searching for them on vinted and eventually one popped up on my for you page. It was my size and I didn’t even make a cheeky offer, I just snapped it up!
time to style
When it arrived I instantly loved it, but I was a little nervous about the colour palette. It had so many bold colours in it; red, orange, turquoise, white… it felt a little out of my comfort zone and I had no idea what I was going to style it with.
Honestly. I loved this jacket, but it really intimidated me, so I put it on my chair and left it there for a few weeks. Finally, today I decided to try it on and like magic, the outfit I tried it with looked, well, pretty great!
I was wearing my pink Joanie Priya dress, so I popped on a cream tank top (also from vinted) to keep me warm and break up the print. Then on went the jacket. Instantly it worked! Score!
I wish I could end this with some wisdom, but I don’t really have any! I guess my main take-aways are:
- vinted is awesome and please stop shopping fast fashion (this includes supermarket brands) and instead recycle what’s already in the world.
- Wear things you love.
- if clothes you love intimate you, then just try them on with things and keep going until you figure it out
- break up prints with plain layers
