I stopped giving my dog NutriPaw supplements and this is what happened…
Hello friends! Today I want to have a quick chat about NutriPaw supplements and what happened when I stopped giving them to my dog, Gordon. And yes… I do feel like a terrible dog mama, but I have more on order and he will be taking them again very soon. Let’s chat!!
NutriPaw supplements: what do they do?!
NutriPaw have a whole host of supplements but I had Gordon on the Pre, Pro & Post biotic variety as I love a bit of gut health and labradors are known for having sensitive tummies.
This supplement contains gut-friendly prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics with natural ingredients like pumpkin, flaxseed, papaya, and chicory root inulin. Available as chews or powder (we have the chews and he’s fine eating them). They help support:
-Healthy digestion
-Firmer stools
-Reduce gas
-Bad breath
-Improved anal gland function
-Better nutrient absorption
-Skin health
NutriPaw Supplements: my honest review
We started giving Gordon NutriPaw supplements for his general wellbeing, rather than to combat any issues he was dealing with. Labradors are prone to sensitive tummies and whilst Gordon doesn’t really struggle with his digestion, it’s always good to have a healthy gut. I also liked these ones as they came highly recommended on google and Amazon, so I figured they must be pretty good!
Gordon was on the supplements for a good few months and honestly, he seemed really well on them. But I also thought he seemed really well in general. He’s a pretty happy and healthy dog and he’s on high quality food. So the supplements were more for a ‘boost’ and not necessarily essential…. Or so I thought!!
However, when we ran out of supplements we didn’t replace them immediately and honestly, after about a month we started seeing some big differences in him; mainly more runny poos, dirtier ears and eyes, a noticeably dull coat and even some tiny balding spots appearing. It took us a while to realise the only difference in his life and diet was a lack of supplements and honestly, we were pretty horrified… and guilt ridden.
Needless to say, we have ordered him more supplements and we feel suitably dreadful. Our dog is 7 years old now so he is getting older and needing a little more support than when he was younger, but it’s truly shocking how much difference we saw when he stopped taking supplements. Especially to his coat, which a big sign on a dogs overall health.
Our sweet little man will hopefully be in top health again very soon and if you are thinking about giving your dog supplements, I honestly can’t recommend it enough. The difference was very obvious when he stopped taking them, and I won’t be allowing us to run out again in the future either. For a few extra pennies a month, it’s well worth the money!
So yes! NutriPaw supplements, in my opinion are excellent! Especially if your dog is getting an older.
