The Benefits of Loft Conversions: Transforming Unused Space
hello friends! Today I want to talk about one of my wishlists for 2024… extending the living space! That’s right, but I don’t want to go out, I want to go up! Today we are chatting about The Benefits of Loft Conversions: Transforming Unused Space! Let’s chat!
Why have a loft extension?!
Whilst a loft conversion isn’t cheap, they are a lot more affordable than a ground extension, plus you can utilise unused space, rather than making your garden smaller. If lockdown taught us anything, it showed us how much we all love a garden!
Think of the view!
In our last house, I was desperate for a loft extension, not because I wanted more living space, but because I knew the views we would have had from the loft would have been so much better than any of the views from any other room. I would have been able to see the sea, as well as the rolling fields of Kent! It would have been wonderful! And as every Londoner knows, the taller the building, the better the view! Most of us aren’t lucky enough to get stunning views from ground extensions but loft extensions often offer the best views of the house!
One of my favourite things about a loft conversion is the sloped ceilings! They are such a beautiful detail and really lend themselves to creating a cosy and interesting space! You can wallpaper them for a maximalist cottage look, or paint in a dark colour and add fairy lights for a cosy treehouse vibe! If your house is a new build, it’s a great way to add personality to your home and if your home is old, you could expose the old beams to add something really special to the space!
You can still store things in the eaves
A huge drawback to converting your loft into a living space is loosing all that glorious storage space. However, if you make use of the eaves, you will still have plenty of room to store stuff. So don’t let that hold you back! Your loft conversion specialists will also be able to chat with you about custom storage spaces to make the most of your new space.
Create a hobby space
Whilst a loft space could make a great bedroom, it can also make a wonderful hobby space! If you have ever dreamed of having a craft room or sewing room, then this could be it! If you are an artist it would make an amazing studio space and if you add lots of skylights you will have SO much dreamy light! Alternatively, it could be a really cool space to create a podcast or YouTube filming area!
Start your dream business
If you’ve ever wanted to start a business, then a loft conversion could give you the perfect opportunity to do it. You would have plenty of space to create, plan, design, pack orders and expand… until you are ready to take your business to the next level and then it could be a loft bedroom!
Thank you so much for reading my post on The Benefits of Loft Conversions: Transforming Unused Space. I hope this post has inspired you to leave your garden as it is, and instead turn your loft into something really special!
