FIVE things you need to know about French Sole + 20% discount code
Hello friends! Today I want to share FIVE things you need to know about French Sole, as well as share my exclusive 20% discount code. I love French sole shoes, they are so beautiful and chic, plus they are really well-made and wonderfully comfortable! I’m so excited to do a French Sole review with you!!
I first discovered French Sole shoes when I lived in London, I was instantly smitten with the rainbow of colours and beautiful quality. I’ve always been a vintage girlie and their classic ballet pumps were cute, comfortable and whimsical; the perfect shoes to wear with a vintage dress. I’m also a firm believer that an investment shoe should be flat and have a classic round toe, so they don’t date and they are comfortable to wear as often as you want. In short, French Sole tick all my boxes!
The Ultimate ballet flat brand
French Sole was established in 1989 by British shoe designer, Jane Winkworth. They have been described by Vogue as the “Queen of Ballet Flats”. Over the years, ballet pumps have come in and out of fashion, but like the classic Chanel flap bag, Monica Vinader necklace or the Ray Ban Wayfarer; French Sole flats have always remained stylish and desirable.
Each pair is hand made and flawless quality
French Sole shoes are stunning quality. Each one is hand-crafted by third-generation craftsmen in Europe using the finest leathers and skins. Their leathers are soft enough to look and feel luxe but hardwearing enough to be durable for years to come. They just have that ‘something-something’ that quality brands have.
From cellar to Sloane street
French Sole started out as a Mail Order company run from the basement of Jane’s home in Chelsea. With one shoe design in multiple colours and leather finishes, it truly was a grass-roots brand. Early on, the late Princess of Wales became one of her most devoted fans, the business quickly grew and the first store in Fulham opened in 1991 with a second store in prestigious Sloane Street following later in 1997.
As well as their two stores, French Sole are also sold around the world in the best department stores and independent boutiques.
Loved by royalty and fashion royalty
French Sole shoes are loved by royalty and fashion royalty alike, from Kate Middleton to Kate Moss, as well as Alexa Chung and Nicky Hilton, to name a few. Their shoes symbolise quiet luxury and Brit-girl does French-girl style. So chic!
More than just ballet flats
Whilst French sole are known for their ballet flats, they do also make a limited selection of boots, trainers, loafers and brogues. All of which are expertly crafted to be beautiful, stylish, high quality and comfortable.
French Sole Shoes: Size Up Or down?
Finally, we have discussed quality and design, now let’s chat fit! French Sole shoes go up to a euro size 42, which is a Uk size 9. However, that being said, French Sole shoes do come up on the small size. So I would say to size up 0.5 of a size if you have narrow feet and 1 size if you have wider feet.
Finally, just a personal note, but if you are thinking about getting pregnant within the next year or so, you might want to factor this in to your purchase. As a lot of us grow in shoe size during pregnancy (and they don’t shrink back after) so either give yourself a little extra room or wait until after you have a baby to indulge! I can’t tell you how many shoes I have lost during pregnancy, so now I try to mention it to others!

French Sole Review
Finally, I just want to do a bit of a general French Sole review, as I’m a firm believer in the fact that we should all buy less, but buy better. After all, why buy something you like, that you might wear for a year, when you could buy something you love that you wear for many years!!
French Sole shoes are a the perfect classic ballet flat with a beautiful toe shape. I love the tiny string bow and the ribbon trim, it’s a simple design, but it’s perfect. As is the quality of the leather and the finish.
French Sole shoes are comfortable to wear all day long and easy to style up with everything from jeans to shorts and dresses and skirts. You can wear them everywhere from the beach, to lunch, to shopping and even more formal events like weddings. Speaking of weddings, French Sole even do white pumps with bows for brides and bridesmaids. Which I love as I’m currently planning my wedding and I can’t imagine wearing high heels which hurt my feet and impede my fun.
Personally, I think French Sole shoes are worth every penny. They are a classic shoe which can be worn all the time and are always comfortable and wearable. What more could you want?!
