Let’s a talk about this dupe…
Some people love dupe others hate them. Personally, I always prefer to save up and buy the real thing, but since I have a baby, that’s harder now than it used to be. Plus I don’t have as many places to wear nice things, so price per wear, it’s trickier for me to get the use out of designer items these days.
That being said, I really don’t like designer shoes of independent brands, as sometimes the original isn’t as well known as the copy, so its the bigger, copycat brand that gets the crediting for ‘designing’ the item, and not the indie brand. Plus indie brands often have higher costs so their profit margins are lower, so when sales are taken away from them in favour of dupes, it hits them hard.
Although it’s also worth noting some people buy a designer dupe to road test the item before they buy the real thing. It can be a great way to check that you really love it and it will go with your wardrobe and lifestyle before you take the plunge. I don’t want to go too far into the politics and ethics of it all, but I do think it’s important to chat about. Anyway!
