Five Reasons You Should Visit Margate This Summer!
Hello friends! Today I want to share fives reasons you should visit Margate this summer. As you might, or might not know, I used to live in Margate and Spring and early summer is my favourite time to be there! So if you have a choice, I would say to go between April and mid-June. But that just my humble opinion! Anyway! These are five reasons you should visit Margate this summer, let’s go!
Stay at a super cute hotel.
There are so many amazing places to stay in Margate, in fact, I wrote a post about where to stay on the Kent coast here, which features a lot of my fave Margate hotels. But the reason I will never get over Margate Suites is because the seashell bed is SO special!!!!! I also love the George & Heart.
Eat Pete’s Fish & Chips on the Beach
Peter’s Fish Factory is THE best place to get fish and chips in Margate and is perfectly located to step out the shop and head across the road to sit on the steps overlooking the sea! It’s just lovely! Also, if you are a vegetarian, treat yourself to a pea fritter!!
Visit Botany Bay
Botany Bay is stunning and I’m embarrassed to admit, I went for the first time just weeks before we left Margate. This beach is absolutely stunning, filled with rock formations and caves, it really is magical! Try to go early in the morning before it gets super busy!
Go Vintage Shopping
Margate has some amazing vintage shops (both home and fashion) and they are way cheaper than the london vintage shops too! There’s something for every budget, and a lot of the vintage there has a bit of a faded glamour, seaside dreams kinda vibe. You can find anything from old fairground ride furniture there, to the prettiest dancing shoes. It’s the best!
Visit Shell Grotto
Finally, there’s nowhere weirder or more magical than Shell Grotto! It’s a series of underground passageways which are all shell lined culminating in a room at the end. It’s super strange and fascinating. Well worth a visit!
