Coloured Bathroom Suites: Where to buy in the UK! Let me show you!

Hello friends! Today I want to have a quick chat about Coloured Bathroom Suites and where to buy them in the UK! I spent a good amount of time hunting around to find these bad boys and eventually I found them and bought them! I’m so happy with them and since then I have had a lot of questions about where to buy them, so today I am spilling ALL The details!

Can you buy second hand coloured bathroom suites?!

Yes, you can buy second hand coloured bathroom suites. If this is something you want to do, I would recommend looking at Facebook marketplace, eBay or your local salvage yards. You might find they are super cheap, which is a HUGE win, but there are a few disadvantages which I need to share with you.

First up, coloured bathroom suites were fashionable in the 70’s and 80’s, so if you decide to buy a second hand set, then please know that there might be some damage done to them over the years; y’know, chips and deep scratches. But not only that, you might find they are pretty filthy and we aren’t talking dust, we are talking pretty grim filth. Sorry to mention it, but if we are going to discuss buying second hand toilets, it’s gonna come up!

Not only will you have to get the rubber gloves out and really give them a major clean, but the chances are you will have to collect the items and put them in your car. If this is the case, you might want to seriously protect your car with dust sheets and tarps before you put them in the car. Again, sorry to be gross, but there might be the odd bit of water still in them which might not seem obvious until they are laying on the side, so do be careful and consider if you are happy putting someone else’s old loo in your boot before collecting.

OK, so the next thing we need to talk about is the mechanisms to make these items function; y’know, taps, ball cocks, flushes, pipes… that kind of thing. You might want to speak to your plumber before you fit the items to make sure that the modern fittings are compatible with the vintage fittings. Some might come with the mechanics inside, but you might want to check them over that they are in good working order and they have plenty of life left in them. I don’t want to be a kill joy, but getting a bathroom fitted and plumbed in can be VERY expensive and you don’t want to be re-doing it in a few years because you fitted items which are way past their best.

Where to buy NEW Coloured bathroom Suites in the UK?

OK, I wish I could tell you about a magical high street store who sell coloured bathroom suites at cheap prices, but to my knowledge, they just don’t exist. Most of the big box retailers only detail in white, so if you want something fancy and candy coloured you will have to spend the big bucks. I got mine from Burlington Bathrooms and I’m not gonna lie to you, they were expensive. I think the toilet alone was around £1000 and that doesn’t include the seat! However, it was my birthday gift from my boyfriend and I LOVE it SO much!

When we bought our coloured bathroom items from Burlington bathrooms they only had a small selection of colours; black, grey, pink and a fairly dark blue. To be honest, I didn’t think any of the colours were right for our house and our style, except the pink, which is how we ended up with a pink bathroom and a pink downstairs cloakroom. However, since that time they have released a few extra shades including a beautiful pale blue and an aqua green. I wish these had existed at the time as I might have gone for a pink bathroom and an aqua cloakroom, but it just wasn’t an option then. Hey ho, what can you do?!

The pink bathroom suites have been in for around 9 months now and I absolutely adore them. The quality is beautiful, the design is perfection and the shade of pink makes me happy every day! I do wish the other colours had been introduced then, so i could have maybe chosen the aqua, but I adore the pink, so I can’t complain.

Personally, I would recommend spending a little more and buying the brand new Burlington Bathroom suites, as the design is beautiful and the colour is spot on, plus you know it’s brand new and it works for years, if not decades to come. Plus if you are doing a renovation or full re-fit of a bathroom, it’s such a costly project that you don’t want to put in malfunctioning sanitary wear.

Anyway, I hope this post helps you! I’ve ripped some of their photos from their website so you can see some more of the colours and the top image is from our bathroom. Thank you for reading and let me know if you have any questions!
