Jo Malone ‘Rose Water & Vanilla’ review
I love this perfume and I really didn’t expect to! From its name, I expected it to be soft, ethereal and kinda girly and maybe even a little too sweet for my taste. Oh how wrong I was!!! This perfume is fabulous; warm, exotic, potent and mysterious.
It reminds me of a cologne intense fragrance as it’s rich, complex and has great longevity. Personally, I think of it as more of an evening fragrance, but you can wear it all the time, it’s a real signature scent; the kind of fragrance which makes you feel amazing!
Alongside its rich, luxe rose accords, it’s also got dominant notes of vanilla. However, it’s worth noting the vanilla is really rich, honey’ed and boozy and it smells like it’s got a touch of resinous accords, as well as woods, incense and ouds too. I love it when brands use vanilla in this way, it’s so mysterious and exotic.
Jo Malone Rose Water & Vanilla perfume reminds me flower and spice markets. It’s warm, floral, rich, woodsy and sweet and spicy. It’s everything I need right now and if you like fragrances like Red Roses, Cardamom & Mimosa, Velvet Rose & Oud and Myrrh & Tonka, then I think you will like this one too! It’s fabulous!!

Fragrance combinations
Ohhhh this is a tough one as the fragrance is already beautifully complex. However, I would be tempted to pair it with Oud & Bergamot to amp up the incense notes and contrast with the vanilla. It would also be beautiful with Wood Sage & Sea Salt to make it a little fresher and more ‘coastal’. Finally, I would consider combining it with Blackberry & Bay to make it a little fruitier and juicier. Similar to Wood Sage & Sea Salt, I think it could be a nice combination to make it a little fresher and more ‘daytime’.
