TEN ways to use the Staub mini cocotte dishes
Hello friends! Today I wanted to share a little but of love for my Staub mini cocotte dishes and tell you how I like to use them. I had been hankering after some of these for AGES and I eventually bought myself some when they came up on Brandalley recently! I bought five in total, the pumpkin, tomato, orange pepper, yellow pepper and artichoke. I bloody love them! However, I was a bit worried they would be something I would buy, love and never use. They would either be relegated to the back of the cupboard or use as display items but never used. However, that was not the case! I’ve used them SO much already and I am only going to use them more in the future!
Freezer, fridge, oven, dishwasher & microwave safe
If you aren’t aware of the Staub mini cocotte dishes, they are made of ceramic but they are hardy as they are really well-made. They are suitable for the freezer, fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe, and they look adorable, so you can even use them to serve food in them! I have been known to put my leftover soup in them, put them in the fridge, pop them in the oven and then eat my soup out of the dish – obvs I’m careful as they are hot, but the versatility is amazing! Also, don’t forget to keep your dishwasher nice and clean to make sure they are hygienic and shine. Personally I use a dishwasher cleaning tablet once in a while to keep everything fresh!
My fave ways to use the Staub Cocotte dishes
As I mentioned, I love to use them for leftovers and I love how cute they look when I open my fridge, I don’t know about you, but they make my leftovers look and feel SO much more appealing than old tuppawear. I also put them in the oven to reheat food, I serve food in them, I freeze food in them and I also put things like my garlic cloves in them as I always seem to have oodles of garlic cloves around and I never want them to get lost at the back of the cupboard.
Also, I have a neighbour who has recently been through a round of chemo and I have been taking her round the odd portion of of soup or chilli, so she doesn’t need to worry about cooking. I often give her food in them as they are the perfect portion size for one and they make all my crummy cooking look well presented. Plus when I give her the food I can tell her that she’s welcome to freeze it in the dish and put it in the oven or the microwave as is too, so it makes her life easier when it comes to meal times. She returns the dishes a few days later and I fill them back up for her… easy!
I honestly can’t stress enough how versatile they are and also how they might look small, but they are the perfect portion size for soup and stews as well as more sharing style side dishes like homemade hummus, cous cous, falafel balls, apple sauce, chutneys, nuts, etc. And of course… they look super cute!
