The Judith Leiber brand was started in 1963, by Judith herself. They are loved in the art and fashion worlds and pieces can be found displayed in MOMA, the V+A and the Smithsonian. Collectors LOVE Judith Leiber! Each bag is handmade in Italy and since a lot of them are limited edition, they really lend themselves to being fashion collectables. The minaudières are rarely found on the pre-loved market and when they are, some styles can sell for above retail prices. Judith Leiber bags are loved by fashion gals, pop stars (Katy Perry is such a fan they created a bag together!) and even first ladies! Judith Leiber create Customised Pieces and they are INCREDIBLE!
I don’t think this is spoken about enough, but Judith Leiber create customised bags and they are really flippin’ cool! There are slim clutch bags which are bedazzled with initials and names, which I would class as cute, but basic. Personally, these aren’t for me… However, there are two styles of mix tapes to choose from and these are incredible, your name, or your bands name, goes where the label would be stuck on the tape, which is a really cute and subtle way to personalise a bag.
There is also a very cute ‘Hello my name is’ label style bag, and of course, I think we would all write the word ‘Fabulous’ here… am I right?! These custom bags take around 8 weeks to make, so if you want one for a specific date… maybe a wedding… get your order in plenty of time!
They are INCREDIBLE Quality
Each Judith Leiber bag is made in Italy, using Swavoski crystals and pearls. The frame is made from high quality metal and soft leather lining. The chains are detachable, so they can be worn as clutch bags or over the shoulder or in hand. And if you ever loose a crystal or two, Judith Leiber will repair them for you. Judith Leiber Bags Appear in Sex & The City – But it’s NOT the Eiffel Tower bag!
Finally, you might know Judith Leiber bags from their multiple appearances on Sex & The City. The first time, was when Mr Big gave Carrie a duck shaped bag which she quite frankly hated. It was almost a deal breaker for the iconic duo, but they got through it. To be fair to Carrie, the duck shaped bag wasn’t the best JL bag, but latest on in the franchise, we see Lily carrying the super cute cupcake bag to the Carrie & Big wedding in the first movie. It looked utterly adorable and it was a moment!
As for the Eiffel Tower bag, that was by Timmy Woods and was given some extra crystals for the film. It’s often mistaken for a Judith Leiber bag, but it’s not. Just so ya know.
