We bought our dream wallpaper and we have no regrets!
My friends! Earlier this year we bought our dream wallpaper. I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit of a stretch money wise, but it was totally worth it! It’s Designers Guild ‘Marianne’ and omg: I love it so much!! I’m so excited to show it to you and tell you a little about the quality, how to apply, how to style and generally get into it with the pattern repeat and what-not!
Designers Guild ‘Marianne’ Details
This is a digitally printed wallpaper, it’s on high quality paper which has a slight sheen and has a pattern repeat of 61cm. The rolls are 10m long, but please bare in mind the pattern repeat when it comes to buying rolls, as you will need to order extra to compensate. Also, it’s worth always buying 10-20% more than you need for wastage and errors, and I would always advise to order as much as you need in one go, so you have a matching batch number. You will need wallpaper paste to apply it and we also used lining paper to give a better finish.
Also, confession time, we hired professional decorators to apply it for us, as I wasn’t willing to make errors with this one, it’s too beautiful not to get it 100% right and with the cost of the paper, I didn’t want to run the risk of having to re-do sections and end up spending more on replacing the rolls than it would have cost for decorators to apply it.
How I styled Designers Guild ‘Marianne’
This wallpaper really does the talking so we kept the ceiling plain with simple off-white Lick paint and reclaimed floorboards underfoot. We added a Designers Guild chair (a splurge purchase from a few years ago), which I’m obsessed with and a Designers Guild cushion. What can I say… I’m a big fan of the brand!! As for the chandelier light, that’s by India Jane and it was a moving in gift from my mum. The curtains we kept simple with a textured fabric and Pom poms down the leading edges. the stand up light is from Matalan and the vase and the window-sill is vintage. The flower paintings are also vintage.
Designers Guild Wallpaper: Was it worth the money?
Omg! It was 100% worth it! I love this wallpaper so much! In fact, I think I love it even more today than I did when it was first hung! It’s such beautiful colours and the print and quality is flawless. I’m sorry, but you get what you pay for and this was totally worth all the beans on toast I’ll be eating this winter! I would also advise you to hang lining paper underneath for a perfect finish and if you can, I would hire professionals to hang it for you, as it’s too beautiful not to have perfectly hung. It’s an investment, but it’s stunning!
