How to style the Cambridge Satchel Company ‘Emily’ bag
The CSC Emily bag is one of the more formal styles of handbags. It is ‘grab bag’ shape and can be worn for smart-casual affairs or as a work handbag. If you are a fan of bags like the Mulberry Bayswater or The Aspinal of London Mayfair bag, then this is for you as it’s very elegant and timeless. It looks amazing worn with a simple white shirt and jeans, or you can wear it with an long satin skirt and jumper for a cute transitional look. Finally, I love it worn with a raincoat and elegant silk scarf in the Autumn. It looks so chic!
What fits inside
The CSC Emily bag is one of the largest bags from the brand and it honestly fits everything inside! If you are using it as a work bag, it fits a good size laptop (and case) inside, as well as your lunch and all your make up, phone, purse, keys and headphones. If you are a mum, it makes a great nappy bag or everyones lunch if you are taking a day trip. It’s a real Mary Poppins bag, everything you need fits inside! Alternatively, if you just like the look of oversized bags, you can keep it half empty and just enjoy the look whilst knowing the bag will keeps it’s shape despite it’s emptiness.
How to care for & clean your bag
If your bag gets wet in the rain, the empty it, wipe it dry with a clean dye-free cloth and leave it to dry. Do not put it by a fire, or in an airing cupboard of by a radiator, just let it dry at warm, room temperature.
To clean your bag, wipe it clean with a clean damp cloth or any minor spills, like if you get sticky cake hands on your bag. For anything more serious I would recommend using Collonil leather cream which will help lift the dirt and protect it from future damage. That being said, some marks are very hard to clean off, Biro is one of the biggest threats to handbags.

Other bags you might like
If you are looking for a CSC bag which is a little smaller and maybe a little more casual, then I would suggest the wonderful Travel bag, which I adore! The Poppy bag is also an amazing bag and can also look a little more formal, much like the Emily bag. Finally, you can’t go wrong with a classic satchel, personally, I like the 11 inch satchel.
Cambridge Satchel Company ‘Emily’ Bag Review
The Cambridge Satchel Company Emily bag is my latest addition to my CSC collection and I love it!
The Emily bag is one of the largest bags you will find at the CSC and a much needed silhouette in the range. To me, it’s the perfect ‘office bag’ and amazing for those who commute into a city for work. It literally fits everything you need inside from a good size laptop, to your lunch!
But it’s not just working women who love the Emily bag, mums do too! It’s a perfect mom-bag, it fits everything inside; from nappies, to snacks, water and changes of clothes. Basically, everything you need to squeeze in, it does so effortlessly!
Where as a lot of the Cambridge Satchel Company bags are presented in pretty pastels and fun brights, the Emily bag is a much more streamline and elegant colour palette. It comes in colours like Oxblood, Tan, Blue, French Grey, Biscuit, Mustard and Red. which are all effortlessly chic and timeless. I can’t pretend it’s quite a cute as bags like the Poppy or the Traveller bag, but that’s part of what makes it so indispensable to the collection.
In terms of price, the Emily bag is £285, which is incredible when you compare it to bags like the Mulberry bayswater or the Bottega Veneta Arco bag. Which are both way more money, but with a similar look and feel. Plus CSC bags are made in the UK supporting British craftsmanship and reducing the carbon footprint. As for the quality, I’m always so impressed with the finish, the thick, almost equestrian leather and the beautiful hardware. It’s stunning.
One of my favourite things about the Cambridge Satchel Company is the fact that they are a cool girl brand. The represent quality and craftsmanship, a love of colour, vintage style and whimsy. And they make you stand out as someone who loves individual style. Some brands like Converse and Ray ban never go out of style and they always look cool, Cambridge Satchel Company have the same cult status.
Personally, I think you can’t go wrong with the Emily in tan. It’s beautiful, chic and classic. It looks amazing with jeans and a jumper or with something more formal for work. However, for me, it has to be either the red or mustard Emily as they are just a little more ‘me’. A little more playful and casual, but still timeless, practical and fits everything I need inside! The Emily bag was a must-have for me!
