Boujee Bougies Candles
Hello Friends! Today I want to tell you a little about a fragrance brand which is launching and I’m honestly SO excited about it! They are called Boujee Bougies and right now they are a candle brand but they have hinted there might be fragrances soon too! And trust me, you are gonna love them! Ok! Let’s chat about Boujee Bougies, remember their name, I think you will hear a lot about them soon!
‘Hellflower”
Inspired by a tatty old sci-fi novel called Hellflower, which referenced an addictive scented flower and never quite described it’s scent. So, they decided to create it themselves. FYI, don’t hunt the book down, it’s apparently dreadful, but the title was genius. This candle is a blend of magnolia, germanium, sulphur and grapefruit.
‘Succulent’
A tribute to cacti, succulents and botanicals. A beautiful green fragrance inspired by succulents if succulents had a scent. Think soft tomato leaf, fruits, musk and florals. It’s green but in a different way to most other green fragrances.
‘Queen Jam’
The first fragrance of the collection I tried and I didn’t think I would love it, but I actually adore it!!!! It’s more than just sweet raspberries, it’s a dreamy blend of berries and rose with a hint of green leaves and a touch of something darker, mossier and woody at the base.
‘Gilt’
Gilt is where the collection starts to take a bit more of a rich, luxe, mysterious turn. Gilt is inspired by the gold of church decor with a play on the word ‘guilt’. Think churches, confessional booths, woods, stone, resin, incense, oud, spices and gold. Lots of gold! Possibly my favourite of the entire collection, it’s an absolute dream! I would be tempted to say if you only buy one Bougies Candle, then I would say go for Gilt, although right now if you buy one full size candle then you get all the mini’s for free to try out, so I would say to for Gilt and then you can try them all at your leisure!
‘Cuir Culture’
Another play on words, because let’s be honest, queer culture is the BEST culture. Shout out to the LGBTQ community, you are the best! This candle is rich, irreverent and proud, think vintage leathers, old books, spice and sexiness. It would make an amazing fragrance, but for now, it’s so can all enjoy a little Cuir Culture in our home.
My favourites
This is a tough call! I love the greenness of Succulent and how unusual yet familiar it is. It really does smell exactly as a succulent should smell and it’s perfect for the day time, as it really freshens up the home. It’s especially lovely for the kitchen.
I also love Queen Jam which I was surprised about because I thought it might be a bit too sweet and jammy for me, but actually it’s wonderful. It includes a hint of green leafiness and woodsy notes along with a heavy hit of roses which offsets the sweetness of the berries. It’s a delight!
Finally, I adore Gilt; I think Gilt might well be my favourite of the collection, because it’s so special. It really transforms the mood of the room, it is rich, opulent and gold filled. I love rich incense candles at the best of times, but this one is really special because it’s so unusual and fabulous, it really does have this richness and splendor of gold and resins. It’s fabulous!!!
