Who Are Lust Home?

Lust home are a British homewares brand who specialise in unique, colourful and playful wallpapers. They are on a mission to create wallpapers are interesting and exciting as their customers. Each and every print is designed and printed in their studio in England.

How To Hang Lust Home Wallpaper

What you need:

  • Pencil
  • Spirit level
  • Roller & Tray
  • Tape Measure
  • Scissors
  • Smoothing Tool
  • Sponge
  • Craft Knife
  • Seam Roller
  • Trimming tool

Prepare

Step 1: Make sure any holes have been filled and sanded and the wall has been cleaned with sugar soap.

Plan

Step 2: Starting at the centre of the wall mark roughly where each length of paper will hang to ensure you have enough for any internal or external corners.

Step 3: Locate your middle marking and use your spirit level and a pencil to draw a vertical line from the top to the bottom of the wall. This is where you will hang your first length.

Paste

Step 4: Empty some paste into your tray. Evenly roll the paste where you are going to hang your first length, ensuring you paste slightly wider than the width of the roll. This will ensure that your seams will be securely stuck to the wall. Use a paint brush to apply paste along the top and bottom of the wall, and around any sockets.

Hang

Step 5: Hang your first length by carefully and slowly pulling the wallpaper up from the roll and position it so you have roughly 10cm of a overhang to allow for trimming. Hang it making sure the edge of the paper aligns with your vertical line. Gently flatten out the paper using your hands. Continue to do so until you have attached all of the first length to the wall. It is important that you take your time to get the first length of wallpaper correctly hung as otherwise it can end up looking a little wonky!

Smooth

Step 6: Using your tool, gently smooth out all air bubbles, working from the centre outwards.

Finish

Step 7: Cut the excess paper at the top and bottom with a craft knife or a pair of scissors.

Step 8: Push the trimming tool firmly into the top of the skirting board so it is sitting nice and snug and use a craft knife to cut along. Do the same for the top of the paper.

Lust Home Wallpaper: Quality Review

Finally, I wanted to give you a little Lust Home review, because as beautiful as they look online, it’s important to remember they need to be great quality in-the-flesh to get that all-important perfect finish! I was kindly gifted a few rolls a while ago, so I have first hand experience with how they feel, look and hang in real life.

Before we get started, I thought I should warn you, not only was this my first experience of hanging wallpaper, but I also decided to hang it on a sloping ceiling in a 17th century cottage where literally no wall, floor, ceiling or edge is straight or perfectly angled. Which admittedly makes my job harder, that a straight flat wall in a new build, but it was still easy and straight forward. I enlisted my boyfriend to help because it was a ceiling and gravity could work against us, but if you are working solo on a regular wall (rather than a ceiling) I don’t think you will have a problem hanging it alone!

Lust wallpaper review

The instructions were easy as pie to follow and literally every drop went up like a dream! I barely had any wastage as the pattern repeat was only around 50cm and it was great quality paper which meant it held the wallpaper paste well and didn’t crease, bubble or cause any issue. It had a slightly matte finish to the paper, which I love, as it gives a more elegant finish and the colours were just as true-to-life as I hoped they would be!

Finally, let’s chat price! Personally, I think Lust Home are really great value, each roll covers around 3.6m² including the pattern repeat and most rolls are around £40-£45 per roll with free delivery over £70. To compare it to other wallpaper brands I like the designs of who are a similar quality, Lust Home are really competitively priced, most wallpapers I have seen start at £60 and some cover less areas and some designs I like go up to £200 per roll. Plus with Lust doing such fun, statement prints, they are also perfect for up cycling cabinets or doing a statement wall, which will give you a slice of the fun, without as much cost!

Anyway! There we have it, my Let’s Talk About Lust Home Wallpaper (Review + Overview!) post. I really hope it was of help and interest to you, please do let me know if you have any questions and if you decide to buy some Lust Home Wallpaper, let me know which you go for and send me pics! I would love to see! PS. Here’s my latest renovation update!
