Five Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started Blogging

Hello friends! Today I want to share Five Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started Blogging! This is for all the new bloggers, or even the old bloggers who need to re-focus on what they might have been missing!!! I truly hope this quick read is of help! Let’s go!

SEO

Having a big social media audience to promote your content to is great, but SEO should never be forgotten!!! Good SEO will mean your content lives in prime Google real estate long after you have stopped promoting the post to your social media audience! Personally I LOVE Yoast for making SEO simple and easy, you can pay people to do it for you, but honestly, it’s quicker, easier and cheaper to figure it out yourself with Yoast! Download the plug in today, it’s free!

Pension

I wish I had thought about this earlier on in my blogging career. Pensions! People! They are important!!! Transfer your old workplace pension into Pension Bee where you can easily manage it and start paying in every month with ease!

Invest in yourself

This isn’t me giving you an excuse to buy a Birkin, babes, but this is me telling you that you need to invest in yourself and your business! Need a new camera lens, buy it! Still using the iPhone 6 which keeps cashing? Upgrade! Need that photo editing app that costs £20 a year? Girl, download it!!! If it makes your life easier or your content better AND YOU CAN AFFORD IT, go for it!! Oh and if you want to start a vlog, you need to read this post!

Quality over quantity

In my early years of blogging, I thought it was all about quantity, not quality. I figured the more I posted on instagram, the more followers I would get… the more I posted on my blog, the more hits I would get! I was SO wrong!!!! Take time to create quality content and you will find you get the same results without feeling like you are on a crazy hamster wheel! And no, this isn’t your excuse to post once a week on instagram and once a year on your blog and call yourself a ‘full time blogger’.

Be yourself

Finally, be yourself! There was a time where everyone lived in marble clad homes and I felt like a freak for wanting to paint my walls pink, but you know what, people loved it! Why? Because it was different and it was ME! Remember this Christmas my content blew up with these images! I remember the first time I did sooo many things that seemed ‘off brand’ for bloggers, but it was ‘on brand’ for me, so it worked. My point is, be yourself. Do what you love, do what comes naturally to you and share what you would share with your friends, because as the #inspoquote says, ‘Be yourself, everyone else is taken’ and it’s SO true! I promise you, it will make you stand out!
And there we have it, Five Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started Blogging! I hope this post is of help to you! If you have any questions, please let me know and this post contains affiliate links.
