Kate Spade Tote Bag Review!!
Hello friends! Today I want to share a Kate Spade Tote bag review with you all! I’m so excited about this post as I have been using it and loving it for years now and I have a lot to say about it! I have quite a few Kate spade bags but if I’m truly honest with myself, this is the one I love and use the most! Even though it’s arguably the most plain and the least cute of my collection!! Sound crazy? Don’t worry! I’ll explain!
I got this bag around 5 years ago when the Kate Spade London store opened! I was lucky enough to have been invited to the store opening, which was wild as it was filled with celebs, and not rubbish Z list celebs, legit celebs, like Game Of Thrones people! Anyway! It was a super fun evening and when we left we were kindly all given an amazing goody bag, featuring this Kate Spade bag! What a treat! Anyway! At first I wasn’t sure how much i would use a white bag and then I found myself using it every day! It’s a brilliant bag!
Strong & Sturdy
This bag is brilliant as it’s super strong, study and hard wearing. It’s fits in all my belongings and even a laptop without any sign of strain and even though the straps are thin it never seems to struggle. If you can get it in, the bag can carry the weight! Sound obvious but not all bags can boast this! As for the outside, it might be white but it’s also really practical because it’s got a coated finish which means it’s wipe clean. Perfect!
The Kate Spade branding on this bag is simple and cute. It’s visible, but not too flashy, I love the addition of the little metal spade stud too. Also, over the years the gold embossing has faded very lightly, but I have had this bag for about 5 years and it’s been well used. There is also a Kate Spade Luggage tag which hangs off the bag, but again, that features very subtle branding. Please note that season to season these features to change.
Simple & Light
The thing I love the most about the Kate Spade Tote bag is the fact that it’s a really simple bag in terms of design and it’s really lightweight to carry. It is a really simple design and construction, with no zips, lining or chain straps, so it’s one of those bags I love where you truly only feel the weight of the contents you are carrying, not the weight of the bag. I know some people will be put off by the idea of this bag not having a main zip or a fastening, however, because the bag is nice and deep you do feel like it’s pretty secure, especially when its over your shoulder. Plus, if you are concerned, you can always put your essentials or valuables in the small zip up pocket on the side of the bag or put them in a separate little handbag pouch to tuck them away inside the bag. But honestly, even in London, this bag feels safe to me!
How To Style The Kate Spade Tote Bag?
One of the reasons I love this bag so much is because it is so easy to style! It is a simple, casual, carefree tote bag with a cute scalloped edge detail which is both smart and casual. I’ve worn it with all black outfits, work events, lunch dates with friends, to the shops, running errands, on holiday and everything in between! It’s a brilliant go-anywhere bag and it honestly goes with everything and anything and can look both super smart and super casual. Personally, I like to wear mine in the summer months with a vintage floral dress. What about you?
Are Kate Spade bags worth the money?
Yes, Kate Spade bags are worth the money. They are beautifully made and really cute and fun designs. Plus if you manage to find your dream Kate Spade on sale, they often have REALLY good discounts and deals. Also, if you change your mind and decide your Kate Spade bag no longer suites your style, then the resale value for the brand is really good. If you look after your bag you might find you get close to the retail price, especially if you are buying classic styles and colours or if you are buying something seasonal and super exciting.
How can you tell if a Kate Spade bag is real?
Generally, there isn’t a huge amount of fake Kate Spade bags on the market. Personally I would just buy your Kate Spade bags from a trusted retailer. Personally, I avoid Depop, Gumtree and Facebook marketplace for designer bags. If you are buying from eBay, feel free to ask the seller questions, ask for proof of purchase and ask for additional photos. However, if the bag comes and it doesn’t quite seem ‘right’, poor quality, bad stitching and maybe a slightly ‘off’ looking label, you can always return in-authentic items on eBay and get a full refund including your postage. While eBay can’t police sales, they are very good at sorting out purchases of fake or potentially fake items.
Is Kate Spade a designer bag brand?
Yes, Kate Spade is a designer bag brand at the premium end of the high street. It sits around the Coach tier, personally I think they are a cooler and better made brand than Michael Kors however, I think Coach deliver a higher level of craftsmanship and leather quality, especially with their more premium ranges. However, the Kate Spade Knot bag is made using really high quality pebble leather.
Kate Spade Tote Bag Review… Final Thoughts
This Kate Spade tote bag is one I have used a LOT over the years! It’s a super easy to use bag because it literally goes with every outfit and suits pretty much every occasion. Thanks to it’s simplicity, it’s nice and lightweight to carry which is a joy when you cart a lot around with you. It’s simple, but the scalloped edges give it a really cute twist and the luggage tag with the bow adds another subtle nod to cuteness. Finally, it’s just a really great size with the perfect length straps. It’s not a bag I expected to use as much as I do because I don’t wear much white, but actually, it works with so many colours and styles of outfits. This scalloped edge version is my personal favourite, but there are other cool designs on the Kate Spade website to look out for and if you can find one you love on sale or in an outlet store, I would 100% recommend!! I’m such a fan of these bags!!!
