What I Found In My Attic!
Monica had her cupboard… I have my loft and it’s jammed packed! During lockdown I set myself the giant challenge of trying to clear it out and get it a little more organised. I’m not going to sugar coat this… it’s been a wild ride! I totally forgot what a crazy hoarder I am. I have found boxes upon boxes of vintage clothing and some of it is amazing and some of it is … unique! Today I thought I would share some of my highlights and if you like this video, let me know as I will make more for you as I have boxes and boxes of more stuff to show you, this could be a 10-part series if you want! There’s a LOT to unpack, but physically and emotionally! Ok! Let’s go! This is my vintage haul!
Where it all began?
I’ve always been a bit of a collector and a vintage lover and these boxes are the result of years of rummaging around fields, vintage shops and charity shops. I’m all about the rummage! I don’t know what it is, but a perfectly curated luxury vintage shop just doesn’t give me the same thrill as a £1 bin at the back of Beyond Retro or a pile of clothes on a tarp in a field! If I find something amazing, even if it’s not quite my size or style, I feel compelled to buy it, which is how I ended up with all these boxes!
Loft Haul
A few years ago, we bought a house which needed a huge amount of renovating. We kept out boxes sealed and lived off the basics and as soon as the loft was boarded up, we put 90% of the boxes up there. Which is where they stayed for around 4 years! Over that time, we bought new pots, pans, plates, mugs, clothes, jewellery, handbags, books, DVD’s, ornaments… you name it, it all got replaced or became surplus to requirement… I’m looking at your DVD collection! Anyway, like I said, over lockdown, I’ve been trying my hardest to get a few boxes down from the loft every week / month and have a bit of a sort and clear out. I’ve been trying to split everything into three piles; donate, sell and re-pack to put back into the loft. Obviously I’m trying not to put *too* much back into the loft…. which is harder than it sounds! Also if you want to go vintage shopping, my personal faves are ebay & Etsy!
