Want To Start A Business? Here’s Some Side Hustle Ideas!
My friends! I have been meaning to write this post for a while because I REALLY love to help people take their finances seriously. I take pride in spending on my debit card, not my credit card and I get SO excited when we can overpay our mortgage, even if it’s just a tiny amount. Yes, it’s true: I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to personal finances and whilst I know I still have plenty to learn, I also think I can share some wisdom. If you have been itching to start a business, now is the time. My friends, here are some side hustle ideas!
How To Figure Out Your Perfect Side Hustle
Before we get started, I wanted to share a few ideas on how to figure out YOUR perfect potential side hustle. I’ve listed twenty side hustles below, but there’s 100’s of side hustle options out there, these are just twenty that popped into my head which felt ‘right’ for me or my friends. When it comes to side hustles you really need to think about what you can offer the world and what you love to do for fun that you could potentially monetise. It could be linked to your job, degree or hobby. Maybe you are a yoga junkie and you want to start teaching, maybe you are bilingual and you could be a freelance translator, perhaps you are a neat freak and you love to organise closets. There’s literally a side hustle for everyone, it’s just your job to figure it out, if you want to! So think about what you love to do, what would fit in with your life and how you could make it happen!
Be Realistic About How Much Time & Money You Have To Invest
Just a little note here, some businesses will take a little investment to set up, others will take your time. For instance, if you are starting to invest in the stock market, you will need capital and maybe pay for an independent advisor, if you are going to be a dog walker, you will need time. Be realistic about your time and money you have to invest. This isn’t an excuse NOT to do it, instead, you might want to give something up for the greater good… for instance, if you watch TV for 3 hours every night and you want to start a YouTube channel, then you might have to rethink your TV time. If you want to buy a new camera lens before you start your wedding photographer journey, then you might need to skip the take outs for the next few months to save up for it. A little planning goes a long way and it’s important to be realistic about your time or financial investment.
You Don’t Have To Set The World On Fire!
A lot of conversations around starting a business include ‘setting the world on fire’, ‘earning six-figures’, ‘scaling up’ and generally ‘killing it’. Which is kind of intimidating, maybe you don’t want that. Maybe you have a husband and three children and you just want a little extra money every month. That’s OK! You do you and don’t let anyone tell you that you are wrong!
Starting a side hustle doesn’t need to be a big scary venture, it little can be a small craft project which earns you a few extra pounds every month and sparks joy along the way. For a lot of people, an extra £200 a month could be the difference between running a car or not. If your fiscal goals are small, don’t be embarrassed about it, be pleased it’s an achievable dream! Similarly, if your goals are HUGE, your side hustle might feel too big to start. Slow and steady wins the race, you just have to start! It’s all part of lifes’ journey! OK! Let’s start throwing some money making ideas out there!
