How To Create A Simple But Effective Gallery Wall (Paid Partnership)
My friends!! We finally did it! We added the finishing touches to our Airbnb living room and I’m absolutely thrilled!!! I have been wanting to do this for the longest time and I’m so happy we finally did! It’s truly the cherry-on-the-cake of the room and I’m so pleased with how it looks! It had been bugging me for a while that we needed to hang some prints in here, but choosing art is hard and I kept putting it off because it’s such a big decision. I wanted to find the perfect prints and my friends… I have! Let’s chat all things Desenio!
Choosing Wall Art Is Stressful!
I put a lot of effort into our decor and for me, the wall art is the most important and in some ways difficult part. It’s SO easy to get wrong and if I’m honest, I always look closely at what people put on their walls and I often find myself wondering why they choose certain pieces. #PleaseDontHateMe! I know I sound picky, but I studied fine art at university and I truly love art and design so I take it seriously, even though art itself doesn’t need to be serious! Personally, my pet peeve is ugly, miss-matching frames and old fashioned, faded prints which look outdated and age an otherwise modern room. I love art which lifts you up and make you feel great and adds interest, texture and colour to the room. It should have meaning and either reflect the mood of the room, or the people who choose it. It doesn’t have to be high-brow, but it does have to feel ‘right’, right for the room and right for the people using the space. Am I over thinking things? Possibly! But to me, it’s important!
Why I LOVE Desenio
I love Desenio because there’s an endless supply of amazing prints to choose from and everything is super cool. There’s colours for every palettes, prints for every taste and there’s ready made gallery walls at every corner (the gallery wall tool is amazing!). Plus there’s SO much style inspo on their website, the difficulty is narrowing down your choice because there is honestly SO much good stuff. It’s like the pinterest of the art world, but instead of looking at it on your screen, you get to look at it on your wall, which is amazing! Their prints are great quality, thick paper and the frames are simple and modern. I always go for the black wood, but there are white, metal and natural wood options too. Also, the plexiglass helps keep the frames super affordable and they are more robust than glass. Also, because they are lighter weight than glass, you can hang your prints on your wall using Command strips which is SO much easier than drilling holes in your walls and perfect for renters.
How I Found My Colourful Desenio Gallery Wall
Originally I wanted to have a gallery wall above the sofa, but eventually I decided two statement prints which worked as a duo would be super nice. I found the New York print really quickly, I think it was in the ‘Best Sellers’ section and I was instantly drawn to the vintage vibes, pastel shades (perfect for the room!) and of course, New York is one of my favourite cities EVER! As for the ‘Stay Up All Night’ print, I found this by scrolling through their instagram feed. I loved the playful sentiment, the cute font and the graphic look and of course, New York is the city which never sleeps, so I felt there was a cohesive message with the two. I quite like mixing eras with my decor, so I didn’t mind that the Stay up all night print had more of a 50’s rock n roll vibe, where as the New York poster had more of a 1920’s travel poster vibe. Plus from a purely practical point of view, the black in the ‘Stay up all night’ print looked cute with the black tone rug and the vintage blue and coral was lovely with the pastel shades of the walls and cushions. My best advice for searching on Desenio is to browse the gallery walls for inspiration, have a scroll through their instagram for more inspo and then look through the best sellers. I also really like to type in colours I like ‘Pink’ for example and then when I spot something I like, I will click into the product page and see related prints and I have found some real hidden treasures that way!
Whilst I Was Browsing… I Added A Few More things Into My Basket!
In my office, I have a big gallery wall and I couldn’t resist adding a few more prints into my shopping basket to add to my display. I free-styled a bit more with these designs as it’s a gallery wall so I figured as long as the prints were graphic and colourful, I could just choose a selection of designs I loved to add to the wall. I couldn’t resist the Miami travel posted, as well as the neon letters, palm print and the super cool photo of the legs. I’m sure you will be pleased to know I didn’t over think these ones, I just went with my gut and proceeded to check out! However, I think they look pretty cool I made a video of both the living room and my gallery wall to so you can see everything together! Have a watch and let me know what you think!
