A few weeks ago I popped into the Roja Parfums store in Burlington Arcade to record some footage for my YouTube channel (you can see it here!) and whilst I was panning around I took the opportunity to pick up a few a few fragrances and have a sniff. The Roja Collection is vast and even as a self confessed super-fan, there’s still a few fragrances I’ve still not managed to try yet. I don’t know about you, but when I’m fragrance shopping, I tend to try and limit how many fragrances I try because I get nose-blind fairly fast. Anyway, on this occasion, I decided to pick up Fetish, as it was a perfume I’ve always been curious about and never tried. If I’m completely honest, as much as I wanted to try Fetish, I didn’t think I would like it. What can I say, like a judgmental b***, I made an assumption about this fragrance and I was WRONG!
So, Let’s chat about the perfume shall we, as you might have guessed from the name, Roja Fetish is sexy and dare I say it, a little dirty, so as I’m sure you can imagine, it’s not for the faint hearted. Fetish is confident, powerful and carnal. However it’s important to remember, that even though this fragrance is rich and sexy, the quality of the ingredients and expertise shine through, so it retains the class and elegance that you would expect from a Roja perfume.
Fetish is warm, dry, spicy and sweet; the dominant notes are lime, pepper, cinnamon, oak moss, vetiver and leather, it also has a touch of sweetness from the vanilla, which is more like a bourbon. It also has incredible longevity; a small amount will last all day, night and possibly beyond, especially if it’s transfers onto the collar of your coat or scarf. It’s technically a mans fragrance and it smells incredibly on my boyfriend, but I have to admit, I LOVE wearing this one too. I tend to use it very sparingly as it is very strong and does have a bit of a ‘borrowed his’ vibe, but at the same time, the floral heart and sweet vanilla give it just enough femininity for me to pull it off in small doses. I think the main reason I love wearing it, is because it smells like him. In the same way that ‘A Goodnight Kiss’ (also by Roja) conjures up memories of a mother kissing you goodnight before bed, Fetish reminds me of my other half and I love the memory and intimacy. Whilst it is very sexy, it’s also very comforting and warm. Don’t let the name put you off, Fetish is fabulous, confident and dirty in the best possible way.
