Coach Tabby Bag Review!
Hello friends, are you ready for a Coach Tabby Bag review?! It’s been a sweet time since I bought a handbag and I felt the need to do a little spending this week! So I headed to my go-to-handbag store for a pick-me-up! I really wanted something which felt very Autumn/Winter, something which would smarten up my chunky knitwear, but wouldn’t make me look too ‘office-y’. I love the size of the Tabby, the chunky (aka comfortable) strap and of course, the stunning colour block design. Anyway, let’s unpack the Coach Tabby Large Leather Handbag, I wanna tell you ALL about it! Are you ready!?
This handbag silhouette was inspired by a 1970’s Coach bag which had since been archived. It’s designed to be worn crossbody or over the shoulder and across the styles it features pebble leather, refined leather, suede and exotic leathers. Between the mixing of the leathers and the colour-blocking design, this bag has a 70’s vibe for a modern woman. This bag measures 11″ (Length) x 7″ (Height) x 5″ (Width).
Two, Well, Three Ways To Wear
The Coach Tabby bag has a detachable short strap (7 3/4″ drop) and a long detachable strap (21 1/4″ drop) so you can wear it as a short shoulder bag, long shoulder bag or a crossbody bag. And as always, with Coach bags with detachable straps, you can always buy another strap and interchange it for another look and length! The two strap lengths give the bag two very different looks. The shorter strap feels more ‘fashion’, the long strap feels more casual and as a cross body bag is feels like a sharp weekend bag! Oh and the shoulder strap is adjustable so you have some margin if you are worried that it might be too long or too short for you!
Fastenings, Hardwear, Lining & Interior Pockets
OK! So there’s a LOT to unpack here, so first of all, there is a snap fastening on the front of the bag, it’s secure enough to keep your stuff safe, but nice and easy to open on-the-go. There’s also a zip section on the inside which is nice and secure. Personally, I like to put my keys in a zip section, it keeps them safe and also stops them from scratching against my phone and compacts, but that’s just a little tip from me to you. There is also a back slip pocket which is great for popping in your Oyster card or bank card if you are on the go. The bag is fabric lined, which I really like because it keeps the weight of the bag down, and there’s plenty of interior compartments, which is really handy, It’s big enough to fit a bottle of water in or a compact camera, like the Canon G7X, however, if you are like me and you carry a slightly bigger compact camera, maybe like the Olympus pen with a chunky case and a big lens, then no dice!! However, it is a good excuse for me to buy the Canon G7X… just saying! The hardware is STUNNING on this bag! Big! Chunky! Brass! I love it! The ‘C’ on the clasp is especially chunky and luxe, it’s so nice!!!
Coach Tabby Bag Straps
I know I’ve mentioned the straps already, but I feel like I REALLY need to dwell on this for a moment. The straps on the Tabby bag are BRILLIANT!!!! Firstly, the width of them is perfect, they have a chunkiness which is perfectly balanced with the size of the bag, so they don’t look too thin, nor too thick. I don’t know about you guys, but I hate it when a bag strap looks like a seat belt and this strap is the perfect thickness for proportions and comfort. Also, it comes with two straps. The longer strap is adjustable and can be worn cross body, it’s thick, pebble leather, expertly crafted with chunky brass hardware. As for the shorter shoulder strap, it’s the exact same quality. It’s perfect!!! They are both double sided pebble leather with beautifully made brass hardware and perfect stitching. All I’m trying to say here is that the two straps are a really generous addition to this bag. It really gives you a variety of options and it doesn’t feel like you get one ‘good’ strap and one ‘secondary’ (code for: cheap flimsy chain strap you’ll never use!). No way! With this bag, both straps are the same perfect quality and really add value to your purchase! Sorry for banging on about this, but it’s one of my favourite things about the bag!
What Fits Inside The Coach Tabby Bag?
So I kinda touched on this before, but the interior space is split up into three compartments, so whilst the interior section can be nicely organised, which is a delight, it also means that you can’t jam in one larger item like a water bottle or a camera. Personally, I would say this is the perfect sized bag for a small to medium purse, minimal make up, phone charger & cable, small camera, cereal bars and still have a little room left over any other essentials like tampons, pain killers and bits of shopping. Also, in an airport, it would be a great size for travel essentials; documents, passport, lip balm, sleep mask, water, medication, a kindle, portable phone charger, you know the kinds of things you need! It’s big enough for them all!
Colours & Designs
When it comes to the Coach Tabby Bag, there’s four different sizes to choose from; a small crossbody bag with a chain strap, a top handle Tabby bag, the Tabby shoulder bag (which I have) and a smaller size tabby which measure 26cm across. Over the different size options, there’s also lots of colours to choose from, there’s block colour options like the one I have, but there’s also block patchwork options and some with printed leather too. This rose one is particularly lovely! For me, it had to be either the top handle Table or the shoulder Tabby. Obvs I went for the shoulder Tabby!
Coach Tabby Bag Quality Review
I feel like this almost goes without saying, but the Coach Tabby Bag is STUNNING quality! It features the pebble leather which I adore and it has perfect stitching, amazing hardware and just has a chunkiness and a quality and a perfect finish to it, which can’t be denied. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’ve seen a other designer and luxury handbag brands selling half the bag (in terms of both quality and size) for double the money!
Let’s Talk PRICE!
The Coach Tabby Bag comes in a few different styles and versions, I have the shoulder bag in large, which is £395, but the smaller crossbody style is £195 and the top handle styles are around £495, up to around £650, depending on the embellishments and the leather. So there’s plenty of options for every budget, as much as I LOVE the Coach Tabby Shoulder Bag, I also adore the Top Handle Tabby, I think it’s stunning!! Maybe next purchase… Anyway! Let me know what you think! I’m all ears! But let me tell you this, with the Coach Tabby Bag, you get a lot of handbag for your money!
…And If The Tabby Isn’t For You…
If the Coach Tabby Shoulder Handbag isn’t for you, then you should consider the Rogue bag, which is a brilliant tote bag. There’s also the Parker Top Handle bag, which I love, but it’s a little smarter than the Canteen. The Dreamer is also a lovely bag, which is big enough for the office but casual enough for the weekend. The Parker shoulder bag is also a great little bag! However, my all time favourite Coach handbag has to be the Rogue, I LOVE it, although when I want something to wear crossbody and is little lighter and more streamline, the Tabby is perfect! I hope this post is of help and if you have any questions, please do let me know! I’m always happy to help!
