Chilston Park Hotel, Kent
Hello friends, today I want to share some information about a little staycation I had recently… and in my own county no less! I’m talking about Chilston Park Hotel, Kent. Last week, Danielle (@adaniellelife) and I were invited to visit them for a mini break which included catching up over afternoon tea, roaming around the stunning grounds, admiring all the beautiful antiques, snapping oodles of photos, swinging on the tree swing, lounging around and eating burgers and chips for dinner. The whole time chatting away about our dogs, families, work projects and so much more. It was one of those mini breaks where we gossiped about nothing and everything and got so side tracked with each conversation we never actually finished a single conversation! Know the feeling? And I can’t imagine a more charming and beautiful location to do so!
Hello, I Live Here…
I think my favourite part of the hotel was the incredible staircase. It reminded me of a cross between the staircase at St Pancras Hotel and the stairs at Compton Wynyates which was featured in one of my favourite films ever, Candleshoe. It’s majestic and even though I know I have a pretty cool staircase in my own house, it’s nothing compared to this set of steps! Another highlight of the trip was the stunning grounds, it was in the middle of nowhere with a lake, corn fields, sheep and cows all around. In fact it was so remote, when I realised I didn’t have tampons, the hotel reception kindly gave me some because the driving to the local shops would have taken up too much time and gotten in the way of our much needed chatting / relaxing time! Isn’t that thoughtful of them?
Good Food Club
A huge highlight of Chilston Park Hotel has to be the food. From the wonderful scones and cakes at afternoon tea, to the incredible burger in a brioche bun for dinner and triple cooked chips at dinner. The rhubarb and custard desert was a masterpiece and breakfast was wonderful too! Danielle and I both had pancakes, strawberries and cream, but we also helped ourselves to smoothies, fruit and croissants at the buffet too! What can I say… we were on holiday!
Old Charm, Home Comforts & Quirky Details
Despite Chilston Park Hotel being only about an hours drive away, it honestly felt SO good to get out of Margate, have some time away and just be able to thing, relax, refresh, laugh and generally have some time away. As much as a good bubble bath is great for self care, a bubble bath in a fancy hotel is even better for the soul! Anyway, I hope I’ve inspired you to book yourself a staycation soon, it really was wonderful to get away and Chilston Park Hotel was absolutely stunning. Filled with old charm, home comforts, quirky details and luxury trimmings. What more could a girl (and her friend) ask for? Oh and before you ask, yes, Chilston Park Hotel do weddings, can you think of a more beautiful backdrop?
A huge thank you to Chilston Park Hotel and the Handpicked Hotels Group for inviting us along, it was so much fun! Also whilst this was my first visit to this particular hotel, I have stayed in other Handpicked Hotels (on my own dollar obviously!) and always had an equally wonderful experience! Just so y’know!
