Cards on the table. At first, I wasn’t sure about this fragrance, mainly because it’s unlike everything else I’ve ever owned or even smelt. It’s so unique and so unusual; fresh and citrusy, spicy and sensual, floral and softly smokey, all those things, but drenched in sunshine. Hedonistic in the sun, y’know? There was something about it, a feeling it conjured up which I couldn’t quite make sense of; it felt both bright and sun soaked, but also sexy, smoky and dangerous. <Stop me if you think I’m making no sense!>
Anyway, I kept on wearing it, trying to put my finger on how it made me feel and then I started listened to the audiobook of Daisy Jones & The Six and suddenly it all started to make sense to me. JUSBOX ‘Live ‘N’ Loud’ is inspired by travel, music and rock n roll, but it’s also bright, fresh and has a feeling of sunshine. Daisy Jones is beautiful, talented and as much as people wanted her as the muse, she wanted to be more than a silent beautiful rockstars starlet. The story takes place mostly in LA, where the sunshine is bright, the fruits are plentiful, the ideas and riffs are flowing and so are the drugs. The Bergamot is fresh, the Geranium and Rose are feminine and regal, but then the fragrance takes a darker turn with Cardamom and Cinnamon giving it spice and edge, whilst the Oud, Myrrh, Amber, Patchouli and Sandalwood give it all that 70’s sleep-all-day-party-all-night sex, drugs and rock n roll debauchery in the California sun. Because deep down I think we all want to be a little more Daisy Jones, Stevie Nicks or Jane Birkin.
JUSBOX ‘Live ‘N’ Loud’ is out now and available exclusively from Selfridges. This post contains a press sample and all opinions are my own.
