Hervé Gambs Ombre Sauvage perfume fragrance review

In Review…

‘I have too many perfumes…’ said no woman ever. I’m this woman. I have so many perfumes and it’s never enough. I don’t understand people who can wear one fragrance every single day, that’s just not me! My mood changes too frequently, as does the weather, season and the occasion. Plus why would I want to wear the same perfume every day and become ‘immune’ to it’s magic? There are so many reasons to mix up your perfumes and honestly, I think fragrance is such an amazing mood elevator and also a really important part of self care. This is probably a good time to tell you I have a new fragrance obsession.

I discovered Hervé Gambs Ombre Sauvage a few weeks ago when I gathered up all my mini vials of perfume which I had picked up in department stores, goody bags and subscription boxes and I put them all in a pot in my office and I set myself the challenge to use them all up before I used any of my regular perfumes. It was on about day 5 that I discovered Ombre Sauvage and I was instantly hooked. This fragrance is right up my street, it has a very unisex feel to it, filled with rich and earthy notes of woods, leather, vetiver and spice, along side sweet and opulent vanilla. Also, it’s not mentioned in the notes, but I feel like there might be a touch of orange blossom, as there’s a warm, solar, almost powdery floral accord hidden somewhere in this perfume, and I’m sure there’s some incense (or something similar) buried in there too, it’s more than just smoky, or maybe it’s the blend of vetiver and smoke, but either way, there’s something in this fragrance which is very incense-y. It’s really, really beautiful, it’s rich, intense and very unisex. Imagine a really luxe smoky, leathery and woodsy fragrance with a hint on incense and vanilla and you are there. I love it, he loves it… I hope you love it too!

Hervé Gambs Ombre Sauvage is available from Harvey Nichols and is it priced at £130 for a 100ml bottle. This post contains a sample that was sent to me by the brand to feature.

I love what you say about having several perfumes, so that you don’t become ‘immune to its magic.’ I think I’m going to start expanding my collection.
