My Chanel Brooch Obsession
There’s something we need to talk about. My Chanel brooch obsession! Seriously! There’s no quicker or easier way to add a little pizzazz to your outfit than clipping on a great brooch. It just elevates your look and gives a new lease of life to any fledging ‘old thing’, it adds sparkle to your comfy but shabby old man jumper and makes your brand new hot pink fur coat look even fancier. And it might go without saying, but for me… it’s all about Chanel! What can I say, I love a bit of Coco in my life! I have about I’ve Chanel brooches, some of them newer, some of them vintage. I would even go as far to say they have been one of my best Chanel investments to-date! The top gold-tone coloured brooch was a vintage find a few years ago, it reminds me of Samantha Jones and all her fabulous 90’s gold Chanel jewels. As for the pearl Chanel brooch at the bottom of the cluster, that was the first Chanel brooch I ever got. The one that started the obsession! I remember looking at it in Selfridges and my boyfriend said to the sales assistant ‘We’ll take it! I felt SO special!’. They have since discontinued this design (it was previously a classic!) which is such a shame, but I’m sure you could find a pre-loved one if you wanted! Finally, the colourful one which reads ‘Chanel’, was another gift from my boyfriend. He bought it at the airport and despite the hefty price tag (around £500, after VAT was removed!) he bought it because he knew I would love it. He was right! Also, I know I’m throwing around some fairly big numbers here and if that offends you, I’m sorry, but people do ask the prices of these items. Also, I’m a firm believer if you look at the pre-loved prices of Chanel jewellery, they do hold their value. In fact, I think some of my pieces have increased in value since I bought them and I can’t say that about much of my wardrobe! So if you do decide to take the plunge, think of it as an investment as the value does hold and often increases!
On The Hunt
I’ve recently been on the hunt for a new Chanel brooch to add to my collection, something vintage and something super fun! I feel like I have enough Chanel brooches which reference the logo, so now I’m looking for something a little more playful. I’m really taken with the octopus design below, because firstly, it’s pink and secondly, it’s just SO unusual! I often look on Vestiaire Collective for my vintage Chanel finds as I know I can trust the authenticity (read more about Vestiaire Collective).
