Self Care Hair Care
Hello friends! Today I want to share a gift guide with you all which is themed around buying someone who needs to indulge in a little self care. Those feel-good, cosy, pampering treats which soothe your mind body and soul. Treat yo’ self, and treat yo’ friends! So, I once heard that hair care is a huge part of self care and it kinda makes sense. For instance, you feel better when your hair looks good and feels clean. I can’t describe it, but when my hair is clean, cut, styled and my roots look good, I feel so much more confident about myself. There’s also a theory that taking the time to really massage your scalp and have a long luxurious hair wash is a great way to give yourself time to pamper yourself and feel lifted. It’s for this reason, I’m going to recommend a super-luxe haircare set like this Bumble + Bumble Happy Hairdays kit. For me, using b+b is a life saver. It leaves my hair looking and feeling great and I have to spend way less time styling it to make it look half decent! Effortless good hair is a great confidence boost!
When things get a bit much, there’s nothing I love more than running a deep bath and listening to an audiobook or podcast. It feels so good to get lost in someone else’s world and it’s also a godsend when you are on a commute or a busy tube. I don’t have many subscriptions, hell, I don’t even have a spotify subscription anymore, but my Audible Subscription is priceless to me, which is why I would highly recommend getting someone a three money subscription or gift voucher for Audible. A subscription is £7.99 per month with your first month free. Each month you get a credit which can be used to buy an audiobook (which is yours forever!) and if you don’t like it, you can return it up to 20 times!
Luxe Bath & Shower Treats
A good bath is the epitome of self care and when it comes to fragrances, you don’t get much more nurturing and enveloping than rose. Not only does it feel super luxurious but also, rose is really balancing for your soul. Opt for something natural and luxe, I’d recommend Ren. It’s divine and this Love set is perfect! PS. Their Atlantic Kelp collection is also amazing!
Hot Water Bottle
There’s nothing quite like a good hot water bottle to soothe the soul! They are comforting, cosy and a really thoughtful gift that can be enjoyed for months to come. Hot water bottles are something you didn’t know you needed, until you start using them! Personally I have bought Boden hot water bottles for the past few winters because they have the cutest designs and they are great quality. This years’ design is sublime, one side features a shooting star, the other side is stripes secured with a big red button! Adorable!
Ashleigh & Burwood Candle
Everyone loves a good scented candle, but it’s an especially lovely gift for anyone who is in need of a little self care. There’s something about the flickering light, soft scents and peace that comes with a candle which makes you feel restored. There’s SO many amazing candles I could recommend right now, but I’m gonna go for this stunning Ashleigh & Burwood Winter Forest Candle, because it’s perfect for winter. Super soothing and comforting with notes of pine, woods and patchouli. Plus it looks beautiful with it’s rose gold pot and ornate box. AND at £13.50, it’s a steal!
Call me an old woman, but I’m a slipper addict! We have hardwood floors and my feet get cold, so I LOVE roaming around and relaxing in slippers which feel like I’m walking on tiny, warm clouds. Again, Boden kill it when it comes to the super cute and cosy slippers, these ones are on site now and the colours are super bright and fun and they feel like a dream!
Good skin, feel good within! There is SO much amazing skincare on the market, it can be a bit of a minefield if I’m honest, especially if you are shopping for someone else. If you think that the person you are shopping for has sensitive or tricky skin, I would personally recommend you buy a travel set for them, as then they can try it out for a few weeks and if it works for them, they can commit to the full sized products later. Or opt for something which you know works super well for yourself and keep your fingers crossed. Personally, I LOVE this Bobbi Brown Ready Set Glow collection which includes a very subtle tinted lip balm, eye cream and illuminating moisturiser. As a set, it’s all super hydrating (great for winter!) and leaves you feeling really glow-y and healthy!
Lavender Bath Treats
Again, with the baths, I can’t get enough! This Yardley Bath Bomb is a lovely self-care stocking filler because it’s super relaxing with the scent of lavender essential oils, and it’s also a really affordable treat (around £3!). Maybe if you are just looking for a token gift or a secret santa present.
Feel Good Fragrance
It makes me feel sad when people tell me they have perfumes for best and perfumes for work / weekends. I can hand-on-heart say that I am just as likely to wear a beautiful perfume when I’m working from home, alone and wearing joggers. If I want to feel and smell good, perfume is something that really works for me and I don’t wear it for others, I wear it for myself. A great fragrance can make you feel great and also make you feel, well, worth it. If your friend needs a little TLC, then a bottle of really beautiful perfume could be a great gift. I recently gave my bestie a bottle of Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile because she mentioned how much she loved it on me (it’s one of my all time favourite perfumes!) This fragrance is made up of notes of pepper, bergamot, mandarin, rose, violet, lili-of-the-valley, peony, Musk, ambergris, and cedar. It’s really beautiful and also rose is really balancing and great for well-being, which is another reason why this perfume is a great choice!
Finally, new bedding. Yep! I’m talking about that just-wash-sheets feeling that we all adore! It might not seem like the worlds most obvious self-care gift, but honestly, tucking up in bed in fresh sheets and a hot water bottle (see above!) can make you feel like a million dollars! It’s thoughtful gift and lovely treat and also a really practical gift, because let’s be honest, none of us have enough sheets! Go for something which feels really soft and smooth. Avoid anything with sequins and embroidery, instead go for a natural fibre like cotton or linen as they are breathable and the higher the thread count the better. Mine in the photo above are by Loaf and I LOVE them, but if you want something a little more affordable, I’d recommend this set from Matalan, it has a 400 thread count and it feels incredible. For £40, it’s brilliant! In fact, I bought two of them because they are so nice!
So, there we have it, lots of lovely gifts all with a self-care theme. If you friend or loved one needs a little luxury and looking after, these could be some great options! xxx
