Five Ways To Up Your Blogger Game For £50… Or Less!
Hello friends! I’m back again with some (hopefully) helpful blogging advice! These are all things I have bought myself and use every single day. I think of them as relatively small investments, which make a big impact. Here are five ways to up your blogger game for £50 or less… let’s do this!
Update Your Theme
There’s something about updating your theme which feels SO GOOD!!! I don’t know what it is, but it seems to give a new lease of life to your content, the photos seem brighter, the way your instagram pops up on the side bar, the shinny new fonts and the general ‘fresh off the shelves’ sparkle do wonders for not only presenting your content in the best possible light and gives you a new lease of life. I usually buy mine from Pipdig, most are under £50 and they will install it for you too! Their themes are so beautiful and each one is designed with bloggers in mind, so they integrate all your social media, shopping links and generally show your content off. Also, just a shout out to Pipdig here, their customer services is PHENOMENAL. I will never get over how dash-darn helpful and knowledgeable they are!
Invest In A Flatlay Backdrop
When I met the blogger Capture By Lucy, she told me that she was working on creating a range of backdrops. A few months later, she made the big announcement on her instagram and I was BLOWN AWAY by how beautiful they were! Honestly, she has created the most beautiful vinyl backdrops which are perfect for bloggers, etsy sellers and small businesses. They are such great quality, so useful and honestly worth their weight in gold! I’ve used mine time and time again and I never get bored of them. From minimalist monochrome to candy floss pink, theres something for everyone! I can’t stress enough how many times I have used these backdrops and they have turned my mediocre flatlay into something I’m honestly really proud of. Buy yourself one… I’ve bought NINE of them over the years!!! NO JOKE, I love them!
Break The Curse Of Winter Lighting
OK! So I nearly didn’t include this as I thought these lights costs more than £50, but alas, they come in just under! These are the EXACT softbox lights I use and I think they are brilliant! They are perfect for dark days and shooting in the evening, I only wish I had discovered them earlier. Also, just a side note here, before I bought these soft box lights, I originally bought umbrella lights which I REALLY didn’t get on with, these are so much better and cost only a tiny amount more.
Tailwind, PicMonkey, VSCO and A Color Story
With blogging, there’s a few small, but amazing subscription services you can make which will change EVERYTHING! Tailwind is amazing for scheduling your pins which can drive CRAZY amounts of traffic to your blog. PicMonkey is AMAZING if you are a youtuber and you want to create killer thumbnails, it’s also great for bloggers for editing pics and adding filters, creating cool layouts etc. VSCO is an amazing photo editor and if you upgrade you can edit your vids too, which is literally life changing. As for A Color Story, that’s a beautiful editing app also, but where as VSCO tends to be darker and moodier, A Colour Story adds more light, bright, sun drenched filters to your images. I personally pay for all these services, but you might choose only to do the ones which you think you will get the most out of.
Treat Yourself To A Prop Haul!
Don’t kid yourself, when you see blogger flatlays with beautiful gold pineapples, cute AF postcards, perfect blusher palettes and unused lipsticks, that’s no accident. These aren’t items which they just have scattered around their rooms which they haphazardly scoop up for a quick photo. No! These are perfectly preserved props which they keep in a special box, just for flatlay photography! Seriously, I have a whole shelf of these things! Anyway, do yourself a favour and head to Tiger, Oliver Bonas, Paperchase or wherever your heart desires and buy yourself some flatlay props. I promise you, it will make your life so much easier and your photos will look a whole heap better too!
