Coach Saddle Bag Review
Hello friends! This is another post I have been meaning to write for a sweet time now, but life (and the puppy!) got in the way! However, I’m here now and I’m so excited to do this Coach Saddle Bag Review for you! Let’s GO!
Design Options & Colourways
The first thing you might notice about my Coach Saddle bag is that it features a rather cute Mickey Mouse motif, both on the front and the back of the bag. That’s because my Coach Saddle bag is from the 2017 Disney X Coach Collaboration, so whilst this edition of the bag has long since sold out, the classic version of this bag is still available and it’s just as lovely! The Coach Saddle bag is a classic style, they release it every season in a mix of neutral shades (black, tan etc) as well as seasonal, brighter shades with design additions. For instance right now, you can this rather cool version with whiplash detailing and this one with fringing. And next season, I’m sure you will find other variations, the saddle silhouette will stay the same, but there will always be different colour ways, patches, embellishments, fabrics, prints and colours to mix things up! Coach love to reinvent the classics!
Size & Functionality
One of the best things about the Coach Saddle bag is how darn practical it is (whilst looking cute obvs). OK! So! It’s basically the PERFECT size, it can fit all your bits and bobs in; a small bottle of water, wallet, keys, a little make up, phone etc. but it’s not so big that you get tempted to carry around junk that you don’t need. It’s nice a deep so considering it is a nice compact sized, it fits a good amount in. Inside the bag there is one zip section for any valuables, one main section and one large but narrow section which is perfect for slipping an iPad mini or phone into without worrying it will get scratched against your kets. As for the strap? It’s the perfect thickness, nice and chunky so fit the proportions of the bag, yet not so thick it looks cumbersome. PLUS the thicker width of the bag spreads the weight over your shoulder which makes it more comfortable to carry throughout the day. Oh and the strap is adjustable so you can wear it longer as a cross-body bag, or shorter so it sits over one shoulder by your waist. Also, shout out to the beautiful chunky gunmetal eyelet’s on the strap which are such a small, but pleasing detail.
OK! It’s time to chat monnneeyyyy!! First of all, I want to mention that the Coach Saddle bag you see in pictures is no long available as it’s part of the Disney X Coach Collection from a year or so ago, so whilst it’s super cute, the only places you might be able to find one now are via Vestiaire Collective or eBay. However, there are lots of great options on the Coach website, so keep an eye out for collaborations and seasonal designs. In terms of price, you can buy a classic Saddle 23 bag which is £375, but the larger sized saddle bags with extra detailing go up to around £695. This whiplash detailing saddle bag is 27cm across (rather than 23cm like mine) and it has all the amazing whiplash detailing, so this one is £695, however, this super cute fringing Saddle 23 bag is £495 and comes in mustard or turquoise, it’s the smaller 23cm size and it’s still got some great detailing. If you want the larger sized saddle bag without any detailing or embellishment this beauty is £595. There really is something for every budget and you never know, you might get lucky in the legendary Coach Sale too!
Quality & Craftsmanship
I’m sorry for anyone who’s read one of my Coach posts before, but seriously, the quality and craftmanship behind a Coach bag is FLAWLESS!! I love their thick pebble leathers (although the bag you can see in the picture is glove tanned leather, just so you know!) and the equestrian feel they have. The stitching is always perfect, the hardware is heavy and has a real quality finish and the whole feel of the bag is well-considered and high quality. I know I say this EVERY single time, but Coach are creating incredibly high quality bags which, I think, are really reasonably priced for a luxury brand. There are brands out there charging double the price for smaller bags which are half the quality. Coach bags are made to last and Stuart Vevers, the Creative Director has upped the Coach brand in terms of quality, design and overall branding. Coach is a great brand to invest in right now!
