Charlotte Olympia Kitty Bag Review
Hello friends! Today I want to do a Charlotte Olympia Kitty Bag Review. A few years ago I treated myself to the now-iconic Charlotte Olympia Kitty shoes. I can’t deny, I was DESPERATE for them! I wanted them bad! They were the perfect design; Cute but grown up, playful without being novelty, with the perfect toe shape and impeccable quality. I couldn’t stop thinking about them, so I took the plunge! I’m so glad I did because I have had a crazy amount of wear out of them and despite the fact they are made with satin uppers, they have lasted really well. A few years after they released the classic kitty shoes, they expanded on their kitty collection including a selection of purses, wallets and handbags. After much deliberation, I decided it was the wallet style handbag I wanted and it took me a little while, but eventually I went for it! This post is all about why I needed the Charlotte Olympia Kitty Handbag, and hopefully I can give you all a bit of a review of it, in case you want to treat yourself and match with me!
Long Feline Purse
This Charlotte Olympia handbag is technically called the ‘Long Feline Purse’. I’m guessing because it’s essentially a wallet with a strap (kinda like the Chanel Wallet On Chain, but on a leather strap). The nice thing about this bag is that it has an adjustable strap so you can wear it just as easily over your shoulder, as you can cross body. I personally LOVE the fact the strap is made of leather as often I find chain straps can really dig in to my shoulder and be a bit of a nuisance, this is a lot more comfortable to carry than the Chanel WOC. However, unlike the WOC, there is no zipper section in this bag, so if you are a change-addict you might want to get a tiny coin purse to pop inside. Although, I personally never carry cash, so this has never bothered me. Also in terms of the leather quality, it’s a beautiful grained leather which is both hardwearing and beautiful, and in my experience, never transfers colour.
Play Nicely
With most things in life, there are pro’s and cons, with this little handbag, you do have to watch out for the ears. Whilst it’s a beautifully made bag and the ears are nice and sturdy, after a little time, you can see a few creases where the leather has been slightly bent (possibly by me fiddling with them or just opening and closing the flap) so be careful to play nicely with the kitty ears as it’s possibly the most sensitive part of the bag (although it’s also the detail which makes it so darn cute!). I’m probably making it sound worse than it is, I’ve had mine for 2 years now and there’s only a few creases on the ears, which are only visible is you look closely.
Let’s Talk Money
OK! So the price. This bag retails for £595 (price correct as of June 2018) which is a fair prince for a mini handbag, but pretty great when you compare it to other luxury handbags of the same size (the Chanel WOC for instance is around £1,800). The quality is faultless and Charlotte Olympia is a really desirable name in fashion, so you can feel confident that if you do ever change your mind and sell it on, you will get a decent price for it. The wear and tear on mine is minimal after about two years of intermittent wear and it feels like a study little bag that you can use frequently, enjoy and not worry about. If you have a spare £595 to splash out on this bag and you want an easy, comfortable, cute wallet-style bag then this is a real WINNER. However, if you are a little more price conscious, it’s well worth keeping an out out for variations of this bag on sale. For instance, right now, the silver metallic version of this bag is on sale for just £298, as is the light blue denim version is the same price as they are both currently on sale for 50% off. The denim one is seriously CUTE! In my opinion the sale bags are a handbag STEAL and you can find them on the Charlotte Olympia website and if I’m honest, even the full priced versions in red and black leather are pretty cool too. There’s not many designer handbags out there for £600, let’s be honest! Oh and if you sign up to the mailing list, you’ll get 10% off your first order.
I hope this Charlotte Olympia Kitty Bag Review was of help to you and if you have any questions, please do let me know! Also this post contains affiliate links and products I bought myself! Also, it might be worth looking at this post on buying preloved Chanel bags, but there is a lot of cross-over tips if you are looking to buy a second hand Charlotte Olympia bag!
