Perfume: Alternative Ways To Enjoy Fragrance

Diptyque 'Everything' Spray

Alternative Ways To Enjoy Fragrance

It’s true, I blog about perfumes a LOT, but today I want to talk about alternative ways to enjoy fragrance. Perhaps you love perfumes but don’t like they way they sit on your skin? Or maybe you feel they fade too fast or you are immune to them after years of wearing them and you want to find other ways to enjoy them. Much like when you burn a scented candle, realise after an hour you can’t smell it and then you leave the room, re-enter and realise how beautiful it smells. Or maybe, just maybe, you are a fragrance addict like me and you just want to hunt around for new and exciting ways to enjoy fragrances. Ladies, I got your back!

Jo Malone London 'Dark Amber & Ginger Lily' Dry Body Oil

Jo Malone London ‘Dark Amber & Ginger Lily’ Dry Body Oil

Normally a scented body oil, cream or lotion will add a little extra depth to my perfume and help lock it onto my skin for longer, but this body oil is a whole different story. It’s so strongly scented that I can wear it instead of a perfume and I often do! Jo Malone London Dark Amber & Ginger Lily smells divine and even after a day of wearing it my boyfriend will ask what perfume I’m wearing. Impressive for a body oil, right?!

This Works 'Deep Sleep' Pillow Spray

This Works ‘Deep Sleep’ Pillow Spray

One of my personal favourite EVER products, this is a game changer for anyone who has struggles sleeping. It’s amazing!! Mist your pillow just as you are about to turn off your light and let it work it’s magic. I’ve bought oodles of bottles of this product for my boyfriend when he travels, friends with stressful jobs and family members. It’s filled with the scent of lavender, vetiver and camomile, so it’s uber-relaxing, it makes every hotel bedroom smell like home and it just works!

Diptyque 'Eau Rose' Hair Mist

Diptyque ‘Eau Rose’ Hair Mist

A little know fact about perfume is that it clings to your hair and your clothes better than it does your skin. Which is why I often mist a little into my hair if I know I’m in for a long day or a special occasion. I love Diptyque’s Eau Rose Hair mist because it smells stunning and it’s specially formulated for hair, which regular perfume isn’t. Sometimes I wear it in addition to my perfume, other times it’s all I wear and lucky for me, it’s one of my favourite Diptyque scents!

Glossier 'You' Solid Perfume

Glossier ‘You’ Solid Perfume

Personally, I find the Glossier ‘You’ perfume a little sweet for me, but I seem to be the only person who isn’t a gigantic fan of it. However, it is different on every skin so maybe it’s just my skin throwing it off balance! Who knows! However, I love the fact they have created their much-loved by everyone else perfume as a solid. It’s pebble shaped, handbag ready and ideal for travel as it won’t cut into your liquid allowance like a regular EDP will!

Diptyque 'Everything' Spray

Diptyque ‘Everything’ Spray

This is a bit of a funny concept to get your head around, but bare with me because I flippin’ love the Diptyque ‘Everything’ Sprays and I wish everyone would pay attention to how GOOD they are! You can literally use it for everything, it’s great on your skin as a perfume or as a body mist, alternatively you can use it as a room spray, linen mist, whatever you fancy! Personally i think it’s great value and it’s handy to have around for, well, everything! I have Eau Plurielle, and I’m wearing it today as a perfume / body mist, but I also love spritzing it on my linen. Containing notes of ivy and turkish rose, it’s a wonderfully unisex and universal fresh floral scent!

Goutal Room Spray

Goutal Room Spray

I feel like room sprays are often forgotten about in favour of glamorous scented candles, so bare with me, because I have some rather nice things to say about a good room scent. Firstly, forget every old lady / bathroom spritz connotation you might have in your head. Bury it! There are some stunning room spritz by luxury brands like Diptyque, Jo Malone and Goutal and they all smell amazing! No chemicals, no cheap, sweet scents, amazing luxe scents! A few quick spritz’s will transform the environment fast, especially good if you have guests coming round and you didn’t light a candle early enough. Similarly, if you find yourself becoming immune to scented candles, room sprays are a great option as the burst of scent is way more noticeable than the scent of the candle creeping up on you. Give them a go, I promise you will love them! I have Goutal Eau d’Hadrien which contains notes of lemon and grapefruit.

Elizabeth & James 'Nirvana White' Perfume Oil

Elizabeth & James ‘Nirvana White’ Perfume Oil

Mary-Kate Olsen, Elizabeth & James, co-founder loves oils as part of her daily beauty routine, from hair to skin, which is why they felt creating a perfume oil was the next step for them. Apply to your pulse points and massage it in, it really soaks into the skin and whilst the scent is more subtle than a classic EDP, it can be worn alone for those who like a softer fragrance and might be a good option for those who find perfume slightly irritant on their skin.

guerlain face powder

Guerlain ‘Météorites’ Strobing Compact

Finally, there’s a lot of scented make up around, from Too Face’s Sweet Peach collection and their Chocolate scented lipsticks, to YSL’s Watermelon lip tints, Glossier’s birthday cake scented salve and so much more. But I think my favourite smelling make-up has to be Guerlain ‘Météorites’ collection. It’s just divine, it smells like vintage lipsticks and face powders (you know the ones with the puff applicators) mixed with violets. It’s divine!

…And there we have it, alternative ways to enjoy fragrance which doesn’t include perfume, candles or reed diffusers!

I feel like pillow sprays are such a gimmick. Does it really work, as you claim? It definitely sounds intriguing as I am a true insomniac!! I’d be willing to try almost anything to help me sleep better.

I swear, I find them REALLY effective, the ‘this works’ one is amazing and clinically proven too. It’s really worth trying, I have trouble sleeping and so do friends and family members and I often recommend this and nearly everyone has come back and said it works super well for them. Deffo try it, but make sure you go for the brand ‘this works’ xxx
