The Christmas Candle Edit
Oh how I love scented candles! Right now I have two different ones burning, one in the office, one in my bedroom. I know it sounds totally wasteful, but it’s cold, dark and I’m home alone and wandering between both rooms and it’s nice to have both rooms smelling nice. Plus my bedroom will smell incredible when I do finally go to bed. Anyhow, I didn’t really need to mention all that, but my point is, I LOVE scented candles and I want to share ten fabulous Christmas candles which will make the cosy festive period feel almost as perfect as your favourite Christmas film!
Crabtree & Evelyn ‘White Cardamom’
OK! Let’s start with something truly decadent! If you like your christmas scents sweet and delicious, then this is the candle for you! Introducing the Crabtree & Evelyn White Cardamom which is filled with notes of sweet mimosa, cardamom and mulled spices. It’s really pretty and oh-so-addictive! Also, I LOVE the beautiful copper pot, it looks so pretty on display!
Guerlain ‘Bois des Indes’
Can you believe that until recently I didn’t know Guerlain created scented candles?! I’ve been missing out because ‘Bois des Indes’ is absolutely flawless and if I could buy it as a fragrance, I would! It smells like smoky woods, sandalwood, tea and spices. It smells like a hug from a man who wears exotic fragrances and old leather jackets, on a cold winters night, the scent of christmas looming and the warm embrace make the dark evening feeling exciting rather than cold.
Roja ‘Christmas Eve’
This Christmas, Roja have created not one, but three christmas candles, meet The Essences Of Christmas’ collection. All of them are beautiful, but the one I want to chat about today is ‘Christmas Eve’. This candle is inspired by warm glow shining through the windows of a great cathedral, frankincense, beeswax, holly and ivy. It reminds of me of the film a ‘Christmas Carol’ because it conjures up the feeling of misty streets, old fashioned christmas scenes and smoky candles. Magical!
The White Company ‘Winter’
This is a candle my mum buys every single year to enjoy during the week between christmas and new year. It’s always her favourite, sometimes she gets the smaller jar like I have, other times she gets the larger ones with dried fruit in. The White Company Winter is a classic, it smells of bitter orange, cinnamon and clove. It’s really comforting and cosy!
Angela Flanders ‘Mr Severs’
Welcome to Dennis Severs House in Spitalfields, an 18th Century house in the heart of east London. Seriously, google this place, it’s INCREDIBLE! It’s looks like an oil painting of christmases of days gone by, which is exactly what this candle smells like. Imagine a traditional blend of sweet orange, bergamot, amber, woods and spices and you will get Angela Flanders Mr Severs.
Bella Freud ‘Starry Starry Night’
I mentioned this candle in my montly favourites post and I absolutely adore it! It is of course, the Bella Freud Starry Starry Night, it smells like frankincense, nutmeg and ginger musk. It’s got dark wintery evening vibes to it, so cosy and slightly reminiscent of home libraries and gentlemen’s cologne!
Annick Goutal ‘Amande Gourmande’
There’s something about Annick Goutal Amande Gourmande which makes me think of a christmas desserts. Imagine festive gourmand accords of almond, tonka bean and vanilla, which remind me of cakes, creams, sweet cocktails and exotic floral perfumes of tiare flowers. It’s sweet, festive and delightful!
Balance Me ‘Me Time’
This candle is less christmasy, but it’s still super cosy and it makes an ammmmazing christmas gift for anyone who needs a hug in a jar. I’m talking about Balance Me Me Time, which is a gorgeous blend of petitgrain, Cedarwood, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang and Lavender. It smells like relaxing winter evenings and spas. It’s beautiful!
Penhaligon’s ‘Christmas Is In The Air’
Can you believe I have managed to get this far without saying the word ‘Pine’!??!!? Which is crazy because I LOVE the scent of pine. It’s such a simple scent, but it’s so rich, green and beautiful and at Christmas time, I go nuts for the scent! Of all the pine scents out there, I think Penhaligon’s Christmas Is In The Air is the most festive of them all! It’s a fabulous blend of fir balsam needles and juniper berry, cedarwood and patchouli. It’s SO special!
Etro ‘Musk’
Finally, an old favourite of mine! The beautiful Etro Musk candle which is the epitome of sweet, sensual, luxury. It smells like powdery lipstick, womens’ perfume, cocktails and christmas parties, with oodles of magical fairy lights twinkling in the distance. It reminds me of being a child and my mum kissing me goodnight before she headed out with my dad for a christmas party.
