Amouroud ‘Silk Route’
“Steeped in history and shrouded in mystery, the Silk Route was never a single road but rather countless routes patched together on an ancient map. All used for the transport of luxurious silks, aromatic spices and magical perfumes, these routes facilitated the introduction of the wonders of the East to the West.”

Now that it’s well and truly winter, I’m craving all things cosy; blankets, hot chocolates, thick knits, slippers and above all… hibernation! Maybe it’s because I want to feel warm and enveloped in luxury and comfort that I have been loving Amouroud lately, or maybe it’s because they create a damn fine fragrance, but whatever the reason, I have been giving this niche fragrance brand a lot of love lately. What can I say, if you love warm, complex heady oud based perfumes, then Amouroud is a dream come true!
Amouroud Silk Route takes its inspiration from this ancient trade route, with a unique blend of rare and exotic ingredients built around a thread of sensuous Oud. The result is a warm, woody, fragrance rich with smoky embers, florals, spice and a touch of indulgent vanilla. Now here’s where I’m going to sound contradictory, whilst by most standards, Amouroud Silk Route is rich, heady and intense, when compared to other fragrances from the collection, Oud After Dark or Bois D`Orient, it’s more of a ‘afternoon oud’ rather than a ‘night oud’ like the rest, a touch softer, sweeter and just a little less intense. That’s not to say it’s soft, sweet or subtle, it’s really none of these things, but compared to the other fragrances it is a little less extreme. Amouroud Silk Route reminds me of rich oud fragrance with a homely winter twist. Imagine earthy, mossy notes of a Winter garden, mixed with sweet and savoury baking (the cloves and spice of a fruit loaf, mixed with ginger and vanilla of sweeter treats), comfortable worn leather sofas, welcoming flowers, endless earl grey teas and lingering burning incense. It’s absolutely stunning and I urge you, if this sounds good to you, then pop into Harrods where Amouroud are exclusively sold to sniff around the collection. It’s so beautiful, I want everyone to enjoy it as much as I do!
Amouroud Silk Route is available exclusively from Harrods and priced £166 for 100ml of Eau de Parfum.
