Bathroom Styling
Hello! So, the other day, I was taking some photos of my ensuite bathroom and I just wasn’t getting the shot I wanted. Don’t get me wrong, I love our bathroom, we painstakingly designed it and I’m so happy with it, but the photos felt a little, meh. To use the technical term. When I have moments like these, I try to put down my camera, go get a coffee, have a think and return to it when I’ve had a break and I feel a little more inspired. It was whilst I was making a coffee and scrolling through instagram I saw a photo by one of my favourite accounts, the gorgeous @blowyinthewind, she posted a picture of her kitchen sink filled with oodles of flowers, I realised, that’s what I need, more flowers, more fun, just MORE! So bear with me for this post, because it’s a little different to all the other home makeover posts I have done, but I hope you like it!
Floor Tiles
Around the time we were designing the bathrooms, I was making a lot of Pinterest boards and I noticed all my favourite bathroom pictures had a reoccurring theme; Fancy tiles. It was at this time I became a self proclaimed tile enthusiast. I hunted high and low for the best floor tiles I could find and eventually, we decided the best ones were from Fired Earth. There were cheaper alternatives on there, but quite frankly, we didn’t like them as much. It was around this time we also discovered that the cost of laying floor tiles is around £35 per square metre, so why spend a few hundred pounds laying budget tiles that we weren’t that into, when we could spend a little more laying tiles we truly loved. The next thing I knew, we were placing an order for Fired Earth Sorrento tiles. A year on, I still love the tiles and I’m glad we did!
Bathroom Furniture
Of course I adore gold swan-shaped taps, 80’s pink suites and copper baths, but since we had our hearts set on a patterned tiled floor, we had to keep the bathroom furniture a little more low-key and traditional. And at the risk of sounding boring, white is always good as it looks and feels clean, whilst the Victorian style shape gives it a modern-traditional feel which I love. We bought all our bathrooms from Bathstore as they gave us a mix of all the things we wanted, good design, great quality, flawless finishes and reasonable prices. Also, a few people have mentioned to me that Bathstore is above their budget, and I totally understand if this is the case for you, but if you can wait until the christmas / NY sale, or a bank holiday, then they do have really impressive flash sales, which might help! Again, this bathroom has been fitted for about a year now and we are still super happy with the quality of everything!
…And Relax
Whilst it was super fun creating this bathroom, it also took a sweet time to design, fit and finish it. I’m super happy with the result and I feel confident it will age well because we bought great quality tiles and furniture and we try to keep it clean. However, I did find for the first few months, I barely used this bathroom. I know it sounds crazy, but I was so happy with it that I was afraid to use it and ruin it. I had to give myself a bit of a talking to and remind myself that we didn’t spend all this money and go to all this effort just to look at it. So, my friends, this is my reminder to you, enjoy your bathroom! Light some scented candles, put some music on, dim the lights and soak in the tub! It’s such a good feeling to have a long bath and it’s so good for the soul and relieving stress. Now that I’m truly using this bathroom and enjoying it, it feels so much better than it did when I used to not use it and just look at it!
I hope you like my bathroom, and as always, please do let me know what you think below!

I love it, of course! I freakin looove tiles, and you’ve chosen some proper stunning ones there. I like the photography you went with. Of all rooms, I think bathrooms would be the hardest to showcase, so taking a fun approach to it was a good choice. 🙂 I also really like your light fixture. xx
