The Honey Edit
Over the past few weeks I have been obsessed with honey based fragrances and beauty products. Honey is such a great accord for adding sweetness to a fragrance without making it sickly and candy-like. Also, honey has amazing healing properties and skin benefits so it’s often a bit of a win-win situation. I’ve gathered together some of amazing fragrance, all with a honey accord, as well as some beautiful bath and body products, again with a honey theme to them…. Enjoy!
Nina Ricci ‘Luna’
If you are wanting to dip your toe into the world of honey-fragrance, but you aren’t quite ready to give up the classic gourmand, then you should give Nina Ricci Luna a go! It’s sweet with notes of caramel and vanilla, but it also has a hint of honey to it too. It’s blended with lime, berries, orange blossom, tangerine, cedarwood and sandalwood. It’s a youthful fruity-floral gourmand and the touch of honey is a fun and unexpected addition!
Burt’s Bees ‘Honey & Grapeseed’
I couldn’t do a honey edit without including Burt’s Bees could I?! They are famed for their amazing lip balms, skin care and bath products. They have also recently started making lipsticks which are nicely pigmented but also really hydrating. For me though, my favourite has to be their classic lip balms, everyone needs at least one of these. They come in a vast array of flavours and they are a real beauty essential, for men and women!
Floris ‘Honey Oud’
Ah Oud! I love you so much, but you can be a little troublesome! Oud is such a rich and smoky scent that it needs to be softened with other accords to make it a little more palatable and wearable. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE oud, but alone, it’s too much, it needs to be blended with something a little sweeter and prettier. For this fragrance, Floris have blended oud with rose, bergamot, amber and patchouli with a heavy hit of honey. It’s a really original spin on oud and makes for a wonderful unisex fragrance.
Kiehl’s ‘Creme de Corps’
This Kiehl’s ‘Creme de Corps’ body butter is utter heaven! It smells like a creamy, honey dream and it’s oh-so-luxurious to use. It’s like whipped cream on the skin, it’s super soothing and nourishing and feels so luxurious. Kiehl’s have quite a few amazing honey-based products, including some with Manuka, so make sure you pop in next time you are in town!
DKNY ‘Nectar Love’
The latest release from DKNY is all themed around honey, that delicious moment where your eyes meet and your feel like the world has stopped. Nectar Love is a blend of Freesia, Mandarin, Grapefruit, Nectarine, Jasmine, Muguet, Orange Flower, cedarwood and most importantly… honey! Perfect for younger ladies who love gourmand, floral fragrances, but want to keep their sweetness elegant.
Neal’s Yard Remedies ‘Bee Lovely’ All Over Balm
Look closely and you will see this jar has my name on, isn’t that cute?!?!! Neal’s Yard Remedies ‘Bee Lovely’ All Over Balm is suitable for all skin, everywhere. It’s also part of NYR’s incentive to help protect bees and keep them safe for generations to come. It smells delightful, it’s deeply nourishing and it does good… Personally I love using it on my elbows, heels and backs of my hands.
Jo Malone London ‘Nectarine Blossom & Honey’
Ah, this is such a Jo Malone classic! It’s probably not the first fragrance people think of with Jo Malone but it’s a real gooden! Jo Malone London ‘Nectarine Blossom & Honey’ is inspired by London’s Covent Garden flower market; Nectarine, peach, cassis and delicate spring flowers melt into the note of acacia honey. It’s sweet, playful, elegant and feminine. Just wonderful and especially stunning for Spring!
Clarins Honey Lip Oil
I am obsessed with Clarins Lip Oils. I have so many of these in different fragrances and I just love them all! They give a glossy finish, feel non-stick / non-gloopy and also leave your lips hydrated and healthy. It’s all the benefits of a lip gloss with none of the gross side effects! The latest addition to the Clarins lip oil collection is Honey and Honey glam, the latter is has glitter infused into it for a super high shine shimmer finish.
Tom Ford ‘Velvet Orchid’
Be still my beating heart! I do adore this fragrance! It’s carnal, complex and heady, it also contains a top note of honey, which makes it perfect for this edit! Tom Ford Velvet Orchid is a blend of cool citrus, dramatic petals, honey and rum. It’s classic Tom Ford deep and dark luxury with a floriental twist. The honey gives it a touch of sweetness and a real addictive quality! FYI, Tom Ford is one of the few fragrance which I don’t mind buying a 30ml bottle of because they are so heavily fragranced that you don’t need to wear much each day and you never need to reapply. I usually get mine from Fragrance Direct as they often have a small discount, which is rare for TF fragrances!
The Body Shop ‘Almond Milk & Honey’
When I was growing up, I lived for the The Body Shop, it was my favourite shop in the whole world and I was obsessed with their lip balms, bath pearls and body scrubs. As I got older, I stopped visiting my local store until I discovered their ‘Almond Milk & Honey’ collection. Which is so dreamy and delicious I just can’t get enough of it, it’s soft, sweet and ultra addictive! Perfect if you have sensitive skin and also makes a great gift!
Lady Million ‘Privé’
There are many things to love about Paco Rabanne Lady Million Privé, firstly the bottle… a giant crystal!? Yes, please! As for the fragrance itself, I love the blend of the heliotrope, clove, coconut, raspberry, jasmine, orange blossom, cashmere and patchouli, along with a heavy hit of honey. It’s fabulous and fancy, inside and out!
Guerlain ‘Abeille Royale’
Saving the best til last, the Guerlain ‘Abeille Royale’ collection is absolutely stunning! They harness the power of Pure Royal Concentrate and Ouessant Black Bee Honey to heal skin, minimise wrinkles and lines and increase skin firmness. The Black Bee Honey Balm (on the left) is perfect for dry, undernourished skin which has been weakened by environmental damage (perfect for tropical holidays and skiing trips alike) and even gentle and caring enough to use on skin recovering from cosmetic procedures. The Youth Watery Oil is a beautiful face oil, it is super nourishing, hydrating, softening and smells insanely solar and nectar-y. Obsessed with both, put them on your birthday wish-list!
So there we have it… a whole lotta honey! I hope you enjoyed and please do share any honey favourite you have in the comments below!
