In Review…

From the moment Dear Rose perfumery launched, I was smitten! I just LOVE what they do! The brand was created by a mother-daughter duo, Chantal and Alexandra Rose. Chantal is the mother with oodles of experience in the fragrance industry, Alexandra Rose is the daughter, a musician. Together, they joined forces with some of the worlds greatest perfumers to create a small collection of niche French fragrances. Comme Une Fleur is their latest release and oh la la! I love it so much!

The fragrance is fairly simple in composition, but the ingredients are so rich and beautiful it gives the fragrance a feeling of depth  and detail alongside the clarity. At the top of the fragrance is petit grain, which is derived from an orange tree; Bitter, citrusy and woody, alongside a hint of fresh lemon. The heart of the fragrance is filled with orange blossom and the base is rich with earthy tones of  patchouli, ambergris, cashmere wood. There is also a sweetness to the fragrance with notes of vanilla, and sensual tones of white musk. Comme Une Fleur reminds me of late summer evenings, the warm glow of golden hour, trees blowing in the evening breeze, soft florals, citrus trees, fine silks and patisseries making fine fancies for after-dinner treats, as the fragrance has a  strong sweet almond or marzipan note to it. I wouldn’t quite class it as a gourmand, because there is a bitterness to the sweetness, but it’s definitely got a sweet addictive edge to it. I truly wish I could reach through my computer screen to let you sniff my wrists, because it’s really special and oh-so unique and near impossible to describe. If you love the idea of sweet almonds, bitter orange and orange blossom then this one is for you, it’s really delightful and perfect for romantic Summer evenings and early Autumn cosy weekends.

Dear Rose Comme Une Fleur is out now and available at Selfridges. It is priced at £155 for a 100ml bottle.
