Guest Bedroom Makeover
Over the past few months we have been working really hard to turn our building site house into a pretty little home. There are some rooms still piled high with boxes (our office!) and there are other rooms which haven’t yet been started (Kitchen… still living our fringeless lives!). However, we really wanted to have our guest bedroom completely for the summer so that we could have friends and family able to visit. It took a little while, but we have finally completed it… wanna see?!
Keeping Things Simple… Yet Colourful
I found this room kind of hard to decorate if I’m honest. I knew I didn’t want to have white walls, but I also wanted to be mindful that our guests might not want bright pink, blue or green walls like we have in the rest of our house. Eventually we opted for a green-based-grey as the room is big enough to take the dark colour, but it also feels quite cosy and calming. I had a (weird) vision of filling it with monochrome accessories and house plants, but I don’t have green fingers and, well, it’s me… I can’t help myself when it comes to colour! The rugs and bedside lamps are both from Ikea. The Orla Kiely cushions are from BrandAlley and the radio is by VQ. It felt really important to give my guests a radio as music and radio can make a space feel so much more like home. Also VQ radios are awesome as not only can you play traditional radio from them, but you can also hook them up to your iPhone via bluetooth so they can play your iTunes music out of them or your favourite podcasts… pretty good right?!
Bed Time Tea Time
If anyone has gone shopping for bedside tables recently, they will know they are pricey little things! We kind of maxed out our bedside table budget in our room (see here) so we were keen to make the guest bedside tables a little more affordable. We hunted in all the obvious places, but we never found anything we liked. Eventually, we spotted these vintage tea chests on Etsy and we knew they would work perfectly. Also, they cost about £49 each, which is amazing as the cheapest alternatives we had found (which we liked less) were £120 each. Also, the bed is from Feather & Black, it’s the same as we have in our bedroom, it’s such a nice design and their mattresses are super comfortable too!

…And there we have it! Our guest bedroom makeover, I hope you like it and as always, feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
