Olfactive Studio ‘Close Up’

“Is it an eye wide open or a miniature world replete with its lands and oceans? The iris world map oscillates between the globe of an eye and a planetary globe. The heart speeds up as a result of the “Close Up effect.” The image is so zoomed in that we could almost touch it, smell it even. Close Up makes this wish come true. An entire universe unfurls itself in a lavish array of olfactory details. One note evokes confidence. A descent into the intimate ensues.”

Notes

Top Notes: Santos Green Coffee, Fresh Spices, Griotte Cherry

Heart Notes: White Tobacco, Patchouli, Atlas Cedar, Centifolia Rose

Base Notes: Amber, Musk, Tonka Bean

Perfumer: Annick Menardo

In Review…

When it comes to gourmand fragrances, I am often on the fence. I love the glamour and the drama of them, you know, that delicious and addictive vibe they often have, but at the same time, they can be a little too sweet and sugary. I’m a picky one, aren’t I? Olfactive Studio Close Up is defiantly my kind of gourmand. It has a very boozy accord to it, like cherry liqueur and when mixed with the tobacco, woods and leather it really conjures up a scene of sipping bitter cherry cocktails at a charming old hotel hidden in the heart of London. Swirling around these dominant notes you will find coffee, spices and rose and amber. It’s rich, heady and intoxicating. It’s one of those fragrances which isn’t for every day, but when I do bust it out, I definitely feel really special and I absolutely adore wearing it! Also, it’s worth noting on my boyfriends skin, it’s far less sweet and cherry liqueur-like, instead it’s much more leathery and woody, with the spices and amber much more apparent. So much love for this niche fragrance!

Olfactive Studio ‘Close Up’ EDP is available from Bloom Perfumery, it is priced at £124 for a 100ml bottle.

It’s so beautiful! It’s really unusual with the cherry but it’s really special! It’s the uniqueness I love!
