Five Reasons why I really want to go back to Soma Bay!

This week the weather in England has been weird, it’s been an odd mix of being hot and stuffy, with a little rain and plenty of cloud cover. One minute I’m reaching for the tights and jumper, the next I’m heading to the Gelato parlour for refreshing cone! It’s all too confusing and it’s making me want to book myself another trip to Soma Bay. In case you missed it, I was there a few months ago and I just loved it! Here are my favourite things about Soma Bay, Egypt!

Snorkling

I hadn’t been ‘proper’ snorkelling before, you know, the kind with rainbow fish and coral. I was a bit freaked out at first because the water was deeper than I expected and I have a fear of jelly fish (despite the fact I only saw one tiny one and it’s possible it was a mirage as no one else saw it except me!). But within minutes I had let go of my instructors hand (not even kidding, he legit was holding my hand) and I was swimming with the fishes! It was so beautiful down there, we saw all kinds of crazy fish and coral reefs.

Terrace Breakfasts

Ah! One of my favourite parts of the day was breakfast on the terrace! We stayed at the Westin Hotel, Soma Bay which served the most beautiful (and plentiful) breakfasts each day the rooftop terrace! There was the most beautiful view of the landscape; palm trees, blue skies, turquoise seas and mountains in the distance. It really was the most beautiful start to the day and it begs the question, Is there anything better than endless coffee and fresh croissants on a Tuesday morning?! I think not!

Short-haul Paradise

The thing about going to paradise, is you really have to work to get there. When we went to Bali we were travelling for about 20 hours and it was intensely exhausting. Between the time distance, Bangkok layover and long flight, we were exhausted by the time we got there and it really eats into the first few days of your holiday. The magical thing about Soma Bay is that it’s only a hour time difference from the UK and about a 5 hour flight. Not only is it a hell of a lot cheaper than a long distance flight but you can start your holiday as soon as you check in, not as soon as you have recovered 12 hours later!

Spa Treatments

The Westin Hotel at Soma bay had the most incredible spa treatments. From the stunning spa pool (seriously, how beautiful is this?!), to the long, indulgent massages and the incredible Thalasso spa. I spent hours in the spa at the Westin and I loved every minute of it. The massages were incredible and I literally felt like I had new muscles and bones after they were finished with me!

Relax, Refresh, Repeat

I am a huge believer that a holiday a good for the soul. It gives you time to step away from the daily grind and remember the world won’t collapse if you don’t complete your to-do list. It also gives you a chance to re-focus on what you really want and how you are going to get it. Holidays revive your soul and Soma Bay, Egypt is the perfect escape. The landscape is stunning, the architecture is incredible, the staff are insanely attentive and the spa treatments are incredible!

Have you ever been to Soma bay? If so, let me know some of your favourite places there!

I’m totally with you there – I would much rather visit somewhere that’s just a few hours away by plane. I find that when I get back from places like America, I’ve got jet lag for the most ridiculous amount of time! x

I can definitely see why you’d want to go back as it looks like paradise. I can’t believe that it’s only a 5 hour plane trip.
