Stop Snacking Slissie Style
Anyone who knows me, both online and IRL will know I am a compulsive snacker and sugar addict. If I could stop it, I would, but damn, that stuff is addictive! I wake up in the morning and I want a sugar-filled latte, I find myself reaching for the biscuits by 11am and after my lunchtime soup or salad, I find myself craving something sweet. Even if I’m not hungry, I just want need something sweet and delicious! As for the notoriously difficult evening snacking, I can’t deny, I could easily polish off a Terry’s Chocolate orange whilst I watch a film. Terrible right?! I tried the ‘cleaning your teeth after every meal’ trick, but I still found I wanted something sweet and delicious. What can I say? I’m a sweet tooth snacker!
Tricks and Treats
The thing about dieting is that it is all-consuming. It feels like a full lifestyle change to loose a few pounds. I don’t want to starve myself two days a week (hello, 5:2!) nor do I just want to eat meat 24/7 (I see you Atkins and I’m not sure my heart approves!). I eat fairly healthily; I eat soup most days for lunch and my evening dinners are salad-heavy, my major down-fall is snacking. The creator of Slissie, Liz Casely, tried the 5:2 diet and whilst it worked for her, she found it was too hard to dictate her life around the diet. After all, we are all busy women with stressful and full lives, we can’t spend 2 days a week fasting at home or scanning food into an app to tell us how many calories we have consumed. So, she created Slissie to stop her reaching for the biscuit tin every time she wanted something sweet…. it did the trick!
How It Works
Slissie works in three ways; Curb Cravings (the flavours help you resist temptation), Behavioural Distractions (the hand-to-mouth action gives you a calorie-free alternative to habit snacking) and thirdly, Cognitive Reassurance (helping you to curb snacking long-term). The flavours are delicious and help you to resist the urge to snack with the taste and smell of something sweet. Slissie fills your mouth with flavour and the smell and taste tricks your brain into thinking that you have snacked. Slissie is a lipstick shaped device, which can be carried around in your handbag, used at home or in the car! The starter pack comes with Super Mint, but you can buy refills of different flavours including Spearmint, Fruit, Vanilla, Milk Chocolate, Mint Chocolate, Chocolate Orange, Gingerbread, Banana Bread and Caramel Coffee.
How To Use
To turn Slissie on, press the button 5 times quickly. The blue light will flash 3 times. Remember to take the plug off the bottom of the tank and the plastic cover from the top of the battery before using, as well as wiping off any droplets of liquid from the tank. When you press the button down, the blue light will be on and you will hear the battery activating. If this is not happening, then press 5 times quickly again to switch on. Once on, press the button down continually for 4 seconds, release the button for 2 seconds and then suck like a straw (but no need to inhale). Repeat this process (press, release, suck) 4/5 times to allow the liquid to heat and to get maximum flavour. You can then use it as often as you need it, pressing down for a few seconds, waiting another couple before enjoying the flavour.
My Thoughts
As I mentioned, I’m a snacking addict with a massively sweet tooth. I was hoping Slissie might help cut my snacking down a little, but actually, it’s helped a LOT. This week for instance, I have only had one cake and that was when I was out with friends on Saturday afternoon. I haven’t had any cake at home and I haven’t even pulled out the chocolate after dinner. I cannot stress how rare this is for me!!!! Ordinarily, after every meal, I used to spend a good 10-20 minutes craving something sweet, before caving in and feeling guilty about it. Now, I just get out my Slissie, use it and move on with my life. I can honestly say it works, I need a little willpower, but only a tiny bit, because it does actually taste good and leaves me feeling satisfied. In fact, it’s so good I got a second Slissie for my boyfriend and I treated myself to some other flavours (the basic starter set I have only comes with super mint), upon ordering I got a discount code for my next order and I’m already excited about buying new flavours! If you want to try Slissie, you can get 20% off your starter pack with the code SPRING20 and I would recommend getting the starter pack and refills as and when you need them. Alternatively, if your flatmate / friend / partner wants to get involved, there is a great value friend pack, which in hindsight would have been best for us. I honestly had no idea my boyfriend would be into it and it’s so much more fun with a friend! I can’t recommend Slissie enough, it makes curbing snacking easy and fun and it’s empowering reaching for Slissie rather than a snack.

Sounds great but do the inhalers come in more masculine colours for manly men? Asking for a friend.
