A Rare Week Off
Last week, I did something unusual. I gave myself the week off. Actually, that’s a lie, my boyfriend took the week off work and he told me I would be joining him. I still Instagrammed and Tweeted, hell, I even published a blog post! I know it doesn’t sound like I didn’t take time off, but I actually did; I let my emails pile up and I spent my days doing things like watching TV in bed and doing DIY. It was good! SO GOOD!
St. Christophers Place, London
On Wednesday morning, we decided to head into London. Since it was our week off, we figured it would be more fun to get a hotel and play tourists for a couple of days; we had dinner with friends, stayed in a hotel in South Kensington filled with faded glamour and drank coffee in the sun. The following day, Thursday, we headed into Central London as I wanted to do a spot of shopping. Y’see the reason for our week off, was my boyfriends birthday. I haven’t had a huge amount of spare cash lately because of our house renovations, but I knew I wanted to that him to a few new shirts from TM Lewin and a new Hermes tie. Luckily for me, we had been invited to St. Christopher’s Place as guests for the afternoon to see what was new!
We headed to St. Christopher’s Place, which is like a small, secret shopping destination just behind Oxford Street. It can be super easy to miss the entrance of St. Christopher’s Place, so keep an eye out for the clock which signals the entrance. I love this corner of of London as despite how central it is, it feels so far removed from the craziness and chaos of Oxford Street. It’s also a treasure trove of great boutiques and eateries, when things get too much on Oxford Street, I have been known to escape to this area for a refuel and refresh. Also, around that area of London, it can be really hard to find a nice independent coffee shop, thankfully Workshop Coffee gives you a slice of East London coffee hipness in the heart of London! We started our day here, I had a fresh mint tea, he had an Americano, it’s the perfect space to take 20 minutes to have a well crafted drink and chat. Once we were done, our first stop was L’Occitane for a fresh supply of Almond Shower Oil (one of my fave ever products!), Mulberry to see the new collection (I LOVE!), Les 100 Ciels to swoon over the beautiful cashmere pieces (for real: so soft and the shapes are modern and stylish) and Astrid & Miyu for instagram-ready jewellery. I also insisted on popping into Kurt Geiger to see if they had the boots I have been lusting over since there was snow on the ground. And of course, the birthday boy spent a good amount of time choosing shirts in TM Lewin. My boyfriend has a lot of great shirts, including bespoke ones with an eye-watering price tag, but his go-to everyday brand is always TM Lewin. He loves them back the fits are great, the fabric and colour choices are vast and the prices are brilliant. He selected four new shirts and he happily announced he was ready for lunch, which was of course, music to my ears!
Patty & Bun
Let’s chat about lunch shall we?! There are a lot of lovely eateries in St Christopher’s Place, but I really wanted to go to Patty & Bun for lunch because I LOVE burgers and I have heard great things about this place. We were absolutely famished by the time we had finished and these burgers did not disappoint. They were the perfect burger-to-bun-to-sauce-to-salad ratio. I had the ‘Smokey Robinson’ burger (without cheese) and he had the ‘Lambshank Redemption’ Burger. We also had a side of rosemary fries to share and these insanely good brisket nugget balls. As soon as we finished, I Instagrammed storied a pic saying ‘Patty & Bun burgers are EPIC!!! If I wasn’t so full, I could happily order another‘. I got a lot of ‘LOL‘ replies, but it wasn’t a joke, their burgers are awesome, one of the best I have had in a while. In fact, I have messaged quite a few burger-loving buddies to tell them to go if they haven’t already been, it was that good. If burgers aren’t your thing, then make sure you check out some of the other eateries in St Christopher’s Place, a lot of them have outdoor tables with blankets and heaters for when the sunsets. On a warm evening, you can feel like you are on holiday, dining on great food in a beautiful square in Paris or Rome. It’s got a wonderful atmosphere!
I’ll be back to regular blogging soon, it’s been lovely having a week off! We had the chance to recharge our batteries, get a little more done to our house and shopping at St. Christopher’s Place was a lot of fun! A huge thank you to the team for inviting us down for the day and the generous gift vouchers you gave us to shop with!
