Mother’s Day Gifts

Orla Kiely Candles

Mother’s Day Gifts

Bonjour! Mother’s day is just around the corner and as much as I love flowers (clearly lots, just look at my Instagram) however, they are something I rarely buy for my mum for Mother’s day. The reasons for this are two fold: Firstly, I live far away from my parents and I don’t always get to see my mum on mother’s day weekend, so I would have to rely on a delivery service (no offence to delivery services, but I really enjoy picking out flowers myself!) and secondly, much like flowers at Valentines day, it just feels a little too obvious. Trade in the flowers (be it daffs or something bigger and flasher) and get her something else, something she can use and love for longer than just a week… these are my top picks, all verified by my momma obvs!

Liz-Earle-Wake-up-Wonders-Gift-Set

Liz Earle Wake-up Wonders Gift Set

OK then! Let’s kick things off… I’m pretty sure this Liz Earle Wake-up Wonders Gift Set costs the same amount of a bouquet of flowers, but it contains more botanical joy than any florist can deliver! It contains a trio of skin care; Cleanse & Polish, Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion and Superskin Eye Cream (oh and a muslin cloth!) My mum is a huge fan of Liz Earle skin care and so am I, their Cleanse & Polish is a bit of a miracle worker and this is one delightful gift set!

Aspinal-of-London-Purse

Aspinal of London Purse

Whenever it’s gift giving, I always come back to Aspinal of London as their small leather goods are just so lovely! They combine everything I love; Great craftsmanship, beautiful leather, cute colours and classic-contemporary designs. There are so many great things to choose from at Aspinal of London, from handbags to scarves, passport holders to purses. Speaking of purses, how cute is this little green number? Complete with a section for coins and cabs and metallic green leather lining!

 molton-brown-mothers-day

Molton Brown Gourmand Shower Gels

Hot off the press, these Molton Brown Gourmand Shower Gels are a real treat! It’s a slightly new direction for Molton Brown as they normally create fragrances which are a little more fresh, citrus and woody, where as these are a little more playful! This collection of washes are unbelievably feminine, sweet and delicious, it’s ridiculous! They side-step being sweet and sugary and instead, they manage to be gourmand and delightful! And the best part is… unlike most Molton Brown shower gels, these will be of no interest to your dad, they are a bit of a ladies-only treat!

 Elie Saab Rose Couture Set

Elie Saab Rose Couture Set

If your mum loves elegant floral fragrances, then this Elie Saab Rose Couture Set is a real winner! Rose Couture contains notes of peony, rose, orange blossom, sandalwood and patchouli. It’s a beautiful spring-time fragrance, filled with florals and summertime sophistication. This gift set contains a 50ml bottle of Rose Couture perfume and two tubes of body lotion to compliment it.

This-works-Pillow-Spray.

This works Pillow Spray

I swear by This Works Pillow Spray, I recommend it to everyone and anyone who has trouble sleeping and it honestly works for them all. I gave my mum a bottle of this a while ago and she didn’t believe it would work and I asked her every day for a week ‘have you tried it yet?’, to which she would keep replying, ‘I don’t think it will help and I keep forgetting’. Eventually she did and that night she slept for a full eight hours with no interuption. This never happens. There’s a whole range of sleep products from this works and as effective as they are, they are also really indulgent. I works recommend the bath oil, sleep spray and candle. All dreamy!

 Hiho-Silver-Pearl-Necklace

Hiho Silver Pearl Necklace

Unlike me, my mother doesn’t wear a huge amount of jewellery, however, the one thing she does go crazy for, is a beautiful pearl necklace or bracelet. I have searched high and low and road-tested a lot of pearls and pearl-like beads, but I always come back to Hiho Silver as their pearls are beautiful, their designs are classic and they are just a lovely British brand with an equestrian feel to many of their designs. This freshwater pearl necklace, would make a very special gift!

Kevin Murphy Hair Care.

Kevin Murphy Hair Care

I know I recommend Kevin Murphy hair care every single Mother’s Day and Christmas,  but my mum is absolutely obsessed with it. As you age, so does your hair and I cannot stress enough the wonders this range has done for my mums hair over the years. She loves Hydrate Me and Born Again. Born again is particularly great if your mum is a little older.

Penhaligions-Empressa

Penhaligion’s Empressa

Possibly one of the prettiest perfumes I have ever experienced! Penhaligion’s Empressa is from the Trade Routes collection and it’s inspired by an Empressa’s opulent travels; precious silks, pearls and layered fresh fruits, soft spices and sweet treats. Its wonderfully complex, without being too heavy. It contains notes of blood orange, bergamot, peach, rose, neroli, geranium, pink pepper, cardamom, vanilla, amber, patchouli and musk. It’s wonderfully pretty, whilst still being really elegant. A classic Penhaligion’s fragrance and a beautiful gift for Mother’s Day… if you can bare to part with it!

 Orla Kiely Candles

Orla Kiely Candles

Just like me, my mum is a big fan of candles. She has different scents dotted around the house and she’s not afraid to burn them in unison. This set of three Orla Kiely Candles is a lovely Mother’s Day gift as each candle has a different scent and each one is housed in a different coloured printed glass jar (which once the candles have burnt down can be used to store trinkets or house tea lights).  Orla Kiely are a candle brand I keep going back to as their scents really do fill the room and the glass jars make them such a pretty gift!

 French-Soaps

French Soaps

When I was a child, we spent every summer holiday in France and my parents would adore shopping in the markets for their daily groceries, as well as endless amounts of wine and french skin care to bring back home with us. My mum used to stockpile these traditional French Soaps which always came in beautiful designs, colours and scents. These little beauties are a French staple, but impossibly hard to find in the UK, which is such a shame as they are so much better for you skin than our supermarket soaps. I just discovered  frenchsoaps.co.uk where you can buy these in all different fragrances and that any mum like mine would be very happy with a selection of these on Sunday!

 Neal's Yard Remedies.

Neal’s Yard Remedies

If your mum is a bit of a skin care junkie and you are looking for something super opulent and luxe to give her, then why not try the new Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense™ Lift Serum. It is part of the amazing Frankincense Intense collection which combines all of NYR aromatherapy and essential oil goodness, with clinical results. I’m a huge fan of their products, the cream is a favourite of mine in the winter and as a night cream and so far, I’m really loving this serum.

Burt's Bees Set

Burt’s Bees Set

If you have a friend who is a single mum (with children too young to go shopping), then it can be nice to treat them to a little surprise gift. It doesn’t need to be big or flashy, just a little token gift to say ‘hey, you’re doing great!’. Personally, I love this Burt’s Bees Lip Colour Collection Set as it contains three iconic Burt’s Bees products; a lip balm, lip shimmer and lip crayon. Thoughtful and useful!

 Flamingo-Candles

Flamingo Candles

We all know I’m a huge fan of Flamingo Candles, I love their playful designs are their sweetly scented soy candles. If your mum is young at heart and she loves to fill the house with colourful treats, then these Flamingo candle are a brilliant gift. There are stacks of designs to choose between, but it seems crazy to go for anything other than the ones which say ‘mum’ on them! Cute, right?!

Bobbi-Brown-Compact

Bobbi Brown Compact

My mum has only recently discovered Bobbi Brown make-up and she’s become a huge fan in a matter of months. Bobbi Brown make-up is great for women of any age, she loves the natural tones, the shimmer-less finishes and the way it sits on her skin, never creasing or caking. All the reasons my mum loves it, are the exact reasons your mum will love it (if she doesn’t already!). This cute Bobbi Brown Compact contains four eyeshadows and a beautiful shade of pink blush. It’s a beautiful little treat which can be used every day, or keep in her handbag.

So, there we have it, some awesome Mother’s Day gifts, all of which cost around the same amount of flowers… albeit some tulips and some Bulgarian roses… but flowers nevertheless!
