Last month when I was binge watching Pretty Little Liars, my boyfriend wasn’t so into it, so I watched most of it using his headphones. He has good taste when it comes to tech and his headphones are by B+O and my-oh-my, the difference was so huge, I ended up getting myself a pair. Mine are the new B+O H4 style, they are wireless and the design of them is HOT! Seriously, I don’t know how I was commuting with anything else than these! Best investment ever! Oh and whilst we are on it, I have been listening to the second series of Somebody Knows Something podcast, it’s a little more meaty than the first series and super gripping, but it’s still full of atmosphere. Music-wise, I’m still listening to a lot of Elton John, because I love a show man! Finally, I’m also super excited that Lana Del Rey has a new single out, roll on the album release!
Penhaligon’s Clandestine Clara
This month I have been the new Penhaligon’s Fragrance, Clandestine Clara. It’s part of the Portraits Collection and it’s inspired by a fictional character, Clara. She is rebellious, contradictory, independent, unconventional – a woman ahead of her time. It smells like sweet vanilla, with a touch of intoxicating rum, soft smoke and warm amber. It’s sweet and addictive, yet elegant!
Fornasetti Profumi Candle
I am a HUGE fan of Fornasetti Profumi Candles, the fragrances are incredible and the vessles they come in are just as desirable as the scents themselves. I first discovered these candles when I was having a coffee in Sketch and I was instantly addicted to their aesthic. Since then I have amassed a fairly sizeable collection of these candles and I can’t wait to finally finish decorating so I can scatter them all around my house! The latest addition to my collection is this secret garden (Giardino Segreto) design in a rich herbal fragrance.
Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks
Someone asked me this month, ‘Who makes the best lipstick?’ and I instantly answered ‘Charlotte Tilbury’. I know they are a little more money than other brands, but I just don’t care! I always think lips are one of the first things people see when they look at you and there’s nothing worse than having flaky / uneven / bleeding lipstick. I don’t know how she did it, but Charlotte Tilbury came up with the perfect lipstick formula; matte, creamy, long lasting and have an ability to make your lips look nice and full. The colours are also a dream come true too, from super-nudes to mid-pinks, reds and plums. Who makes the best lipsticks? Charlotte Tilbury!
Oops! I may have treated myself to a new Chanel Handbag! I partly blame Jane (British Beauty Blogger) as we went to Paris in January and we were chatting long and hard about Chanel Bags. I partly blame Vintage Heirloom for having so many awesome things on our website and when I spotted this little beauty, I just couldn’t resist. Isn’t it a joy?! I have worn it LOADS already, it’s basically turned into my ‘every day’ handbag.
The Estee Edit
If you haven’t been to The Estee Edit store on Carnaby Street yet, then I urge you to pop in soon! It’s basically a beauty playground with loads of cool tech (selfie screens, iPhone chargers etc.) and oodles of amazing make up and fragrances to swatch and test. It has everything you could imagine, from the Estee Lauder classics like Advanced Night Repair, Double Wear foundation, Perfectly Clean skin care and Modern Muse fragrance, as well as the newer and much-loved Estee Edit Collection. I’m a life long fan of Estee Lauder, I grew up using their skin care (my mums favourite) and I always got her red lipsticks from the annual christmas beauty box (the only shade in the box my mum wouldn’t wear, but always my favourite) and now I’m also hooked on their Estee Edit Collection. Think of it as a slightly younger, more playful side of the brand with a selfie-ready twist (a clear lipgloss with a slightly blue tint to it which makes your teeth look whiter in pics!). I’m currently obsessed with the Flash Illuminator as they have the most amazing high-impact strobing effect, they come in the most beautiful shades, with a perfect finish. Also, pale girls like me will love the silver toned shade ‘Spot Light’.
London Fashion Week: Ashish
I know I only blogged about the Ashish show a couple of days ago, but I can’t stress enough how much I loved it. The colours, the music, the sequins, the messaging, it was all perfect! Also, shout out to the blogger babes and faves I sat with; Adorn Girl, Amy Valentine, Hannah Louise F and Millie Cotton. There’s a lot of divas and mean girls in the blogosphere, but these girls are all killing it and are four of the coolest and nicest girls around. It’s always a pleasure to see them!
Pip + Nut Peanut Butter
I’m such a peanut butter addict, I can’t get enough of it! Sometimes I eat it alone, other times I layer it up with nutella on toast or layer banana slices over it. If I am feeling really clever, I even cook with it (stir-fries or homemade peanut butter cups), I used to just buy the supermaket’s own brand of peanut butter but then I tried Pip + Nut and everytihng changed. If you love peanut butter as much as I do, then you have to try this stuff out, it’s SO damn good, it’s also more wholesome than most peanut butters because it just contains roasted nut, coconut oil and a sprinkling of seasalt, of course. They also do cashew nut and almond butter, but my personal favourite is the limited edition Crunchy Maple Peanut Butter, it’s nutty with a little added maple sweetness. I need to bulk buy it before it’s gone for good!
January was a bit of a write-off for me because I spent so much of it glued to Pretty Little Liars, I have no idea why it’s quite so addictive, but it is. As a result, I have been trying super hard not to watch any box sets for fear I may spend February doing the exact same thing. Instead I have been watching a lot of serial killer documentaries and old episodes of the Big Bang Theory. Particularly good documentaries and mini series include The Iceman Interviews, The Jinx, The Staircase and Paradise Lost. As for The Big Bang Theory, it’s a show I love, but I have seen every episode so many times I can work whilst it’s on and not get too distracted. After January’s TV addiction, this is what I need!
Flatlay Project With Radley
Once of my favourite projects this month had to be styling up the new My Radley Collection into flatlays. They wanted me to create colourful images to go with their colourful new pouches, all of which can be personalised. I always love doing flatlays and these were a joy to shoot, I have been using my pouch in my handbag to keep my purse / lipstick / phone / tampons / phone charger safe in my tote. It’s lovely to use and carry around! Also, the best part was, once the project was over, I was able to give the green one to my friend Hayley and the blue one to my friend Ashanti. So much joy!
Macaroon Making With Juicy Couture
In honour of Juicy Couture releasing their new fragrance, Sucré, they invited a small group of press and bloggers to stay at the Rosewood hotel and make macaroons. Mine were technicolour and I blogged all about it here. LBQ and I ate so many macaroons that I sugar-crashed hard and by the evening, I was still so sugared-out I could barely sleep… all in the name of research right?!
Diptyque Eau Dominotée Multi-use Fragrance
I’m kind of addicted to this new Diptyque Eau Dominotée multi-use fragrance. It’s new and it can be used as everything from a perfume (which if you do, is incredible value for money as it’s £55 for a 200ml bottle) to room freshener to upholstery spritz. I have been using it mainly on my clothes and as a room freshener, as we are still living in a ‘project house’ (code for ‘it’s a state’) and we are still having to do service washes as our white goods are not yet plumbed in. A liberal spritz of this and everything smells like roses, foliage with a hint of patchouli. It makes my work-in-progress house smell a lot more homely and opulent!
I think my favourite piece of clothing this month has to be my new Cat Boots. I absolutely love them! You guys have probably noticed by now that I love a good chunky boot (stilettos are not my friends, I have shiz to do!) and these boots are ticking all my boxes, they are warm, comfortable, rainproof and I think they look pretty awesome too! I have three pairs of Cat Colorado Boots now, all in different colours and I can’t shout enough about how practical and cool they are. LOVE THEM!
Miller Harris Bath & Body Collection
I am a huge fan of Miller Harris fragrances, one of my favourite fragrances is Vetiver Insolent (I have three bottles of it because I’m such a fan) and I adore their candles too, in particular l’Air de Rien which was the fragrance created with Jane Birkin. Their latest addition to their collection is a Bath and Body Collection. Hardcore fans will remember that they used to do a collection years ago but they discontinued it. It’s come back, with different fragrances and lots of changes… I couldn’t be happier! I have Rose Silence as a Body Cream and Bath Oil, Lumière Dorée Body Scrub and Hand Cream. I love it all, the Rose Silence has to be my favourite, because it’s just so deliciously warm, rich and decadent!
Rodial Skin Care
Finally, I am excited to mention that Rodial Skin Care have expanded their Dragons Blood collection, there is now a lip mask to plump your lips up (like the ones you see on IG / Vlog tutorials) as well as a plumping lip shine (it contains chilli, so it will tingle, but it’s worth it!) and my personal favourite, the Velvet Cream which is perfect for winter skin, it hydrates, soothes, nourishes and tones skin. It’s a bit of an indulgence, but I do think when you cut corners with your skin care, it shows. However, if you can’t stretch to Rodial prices, I would recommend trying their sister brand Nip + Fab which is much more affordable but still pretty amazing!
Let me know if you have any particular favourites from this month, I always love to hear about what you guys have been loving!
