Seven Great Foundations
It’s all good having perfect winged eyeliner, great contouring and a killer cupids bow, but without a flawless base, it doesn’t mean anything. Here are seven great foundations, I have tried and tested a lot of foundations, but these are my very favourites!
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation
I did a full blog post about this Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation and I am still massively obsessed with it. I have been using it loads and I have been recommending it to everyone I meet too! There are a lot of cushion foundations around right now, but this is the creme de la creme! It’s a thick, rich foundation, but the mesh and the cushion applicator mean you can dab it over your skin to get a light weight feel with a high coverage finish. Brilliant!
Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Foundation
This Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Foundation is amazing! It’s oil free without being drying, and it’s weightless whilst still giving great coverage. The only thing is, I do wish that the 01 shade is slightly darker as it’s perfect for me now, but I fear in the depths of winter it might be too dark for me. However, I am a ghost, so I can’t get too annoyed as a lot of 01 shades are too dark for me. Regardless, it’s an great new foundation!
Sisley Phyto-Teint Expert Fluid Foundation
This Sisley Phyto-Teint Expert Fluid Foundation is absolutely stunning, it’s the most beautiful porcelain shade and the coverage is gorgeous and flawless. I feel so confident when I wear it and it barely need highlighter because it seems to give a ‘lifting’ effect and a luminosity. It’s the most expensive of all the foundations featured, but it feels the most luxe and I absolutely adore the finish. Well worth a few extra pennies!
Jay Manuel Filter Finish Collection
Jay Manuel Filter Finish Collection Foundation is amazing! It’s super high coverage, but feels really comfortable to wear. Jay Manuel Beauty is still fairly new to the UK, but it’s crazy popular in the US and it’s really good. If you are looking for a super high coverage foundation, check this one out.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation
This Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation is iconic. I love it, everyone loves it, it’s amazing! I have had this foundation (and concealer) in many different guises over the years (this foundation is so well-loved there are many different options to choose from) and I have loved every single one of them. If you have never tried Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation, you need to. It’s a great foundation, comfortable enough for the day, strong enough to last well into the night and always stays in place, even without primer. This is basically the benchmark foundation that every other foundation is marked against.
Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation
Guerlain is a real love brand of mine! I adore everything they do. Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation is no exception. I love the texture, weightlessness and above all it keeps my skin looking and feeling fresh all day long. This foundation also comes as a compact which I’m tempted to buy for on-the-go top up’s, but to be honest, I rarely need to top it up throughout the day! I love the variety of shades this foundation comes in, there is so much choice and the shades start super pale and work up in both cool and warm tones. If you have porcelain skin tone, this is the foundation which will make you doll-like (in a good way!)
Clinique Superbalanced Foundation
Another long time favourite of mine, Clinique Superbalanced Foundation gives a flawless coverage and feels really comfortable. It’s the foundation I tend to go to whenever my skin feels a little sensitive, or irritated from excessive amounts of central heating. It covers up any redness and generally balances skintone from the inside, as well as the outside. Possibly the best value of all the foundations here as it’s £23 and a bottle lasts for ages!
Clinique Superbalanced sounds so good! I may have to go to a counter and try it out!

It’s really good!!! They all are!! You are gonna love them!!!
I really want to try double wear but they don’t do one pale enough for me. Have you tried the Clinique Beyond Perfecting? It’s amazing! I want to try the Jay Manuel one too!
Oh no! I find the double wear pale enough for me, but you are a little paler than me (rare!!!!) have you tried Kat von d? That goes REALLY pale!!!!
