White Shirt Challenge
Last week, my friends at McArthurGlen challenged me to wear something I would never, ever normally wear; a classic white shirt. I know it doesn’t sound like much of a challenge, but a white shirt is something I haven’t worn since school and it’s completely out of comfort zone. I fear the awkward gape at the bust and I am a little nervous of wearing white in general. However, I love a good challenge and even though I had no idea how I was going to style a white shirt, I wanted to give it a go and I wanted to make it feel like me. Here is my White Shirt Challenge…
The White Shirt Bar
The reason McArthurGlen challenged me to take the White Shirt Challenge, is because they have a brand new pop up shop at their Ashford Designer Outlet, The White Shirt Bar. The White Shirt Bar is held in a vintage style lorry which has been converted into a shop, filled with a haberdashery counter and oodles of white shirts for both men and women, all by Brooks Brothers. For those who don’t know Brooks Brothers, it is an iconic American brand; Classic, beautifully-crafted, stylish and slightly preppy. Think Harvard, The Hamptons and Nate Archibald! Brooks Brothers have a store on Regent Street, where their white shirts retail for £105 each, however, right now at Ashford Designer Outlet, the shirts are £69, or you can buy 3 for £150. Which is a real fashion investment for anyone; men, women and surprisingly enough, me! FYI, Zac Posen is the creative director of the womenswear line.
Taking The Challenge
An effortlessly elegant way to wear a white button-down shirt is by styling it up with Chelsea boots, skinny jeans and a little jewellery. As much as I love that look, it’s not very me, instead, I wanted to keep my outfit fairly smart, but with a playful twist. I tucked my shirt into my A-line skirt and tied a classic Ralph Lauren scarf around my neck and tucked it into the shirt. My classic coat is from Jaeger, it’s super soft and cosy and my bag is from Radley and my sunglasses are from Miu Miu at Sunglass Hut (all stores you can find at Ashford Designer Outlet). This is actually the first time I have worn a white shirt since I was at school and I was a little nervous about it, but actually, I felt really comfortable and confident. I love being pushed to try out new things and if you are looking for a new white shirt, I highly recommend heading down to Ashford Designer Outlet to visit, I think the White Shirt Bar may have moved onto another location now, but you might find it at another centre and there is always new stores opening too and continuous new deliveries of items. Pretty much my whole outfit is from Ashford Designer Outlet!

I love the white shirt, camel coat combo – really classic but your accessories really make it your own. I’ve just ordered some boots very similar to these as well! xx
