Sofas & Socialising
I have no idea where the month has gone, it feels like only yesterday I was doing a huge ASOS shop to find cute things to wear at London Fashion Week. I blogged about some of my favourite shows and presentations at London Fashion Week, but I haven’t actually had a chance to share what happens between the shows. I usually spend a lot of my down time at The Apārtment which is a intimate bloggers lounge which pops up every season for the week. Those who follow me on Instagram might have noticed I spent a fair bit of time there between shows, catching up with my blogger friends, eating donuts, charging my phone and generally just trying to refuel for an hour or so before my next engagement.
London Fashion Week
Now that I commute into London, my days are longer than ever and with all the rushing around at London Fashion Week, it can get a bit exhausting. As much as I love Starbucks, it can be a bit of a scramble trying to find a hidden corner with a comfortable chair (and a plug socket) and if you do manage to find the holy grail of quite corners, it’s always hard to know if it’s safe to leave your jacket on the chair whilst you dash to the loo. Luckily for us bloggers, The Apārtment was located, literally 50 meters away from Brewer Street (the hub of LFW) and has all the coffee / water / snacks we need, on tap. As well as plenty of plug sockets and plenty of sofas, all kindly provided by DFS.
My busiest day at London Fashion Week this year was by far the Saturday, it started with a 6am alarm, followed by an 8am train. By 10am photographing backstage at a show then I stayed to watch the catwalk show at 12pm. Afterwards, I had 3 hours spare before I headed to Fashion Scout to interview the Merit Award Winner, Han Wen, and then another 2 hours before I went to the Gareth Pugh catwalk show at 8pm. It finished around 9pm I got to the train station at about 10pm and I was in bed just before midnight. It was an intense day, which when I look back at it, was really fun and didn’t feel anywhere near as long as intense as you might expect, mainly thanks to the chill out time I spent at The Apārtment. In the afternoon, I stopped by alone and I sat in a quiet corner, curled myself into a corner arm chair, plugged in my phone and caught up on some social media and started drafting blog posts. In the evening, I was a lot more sociable, I met up with Adorn Girl and we sat on the sofas watching the live show stream with Hannah Louise and Milly Cotton. I had Aubaine cakes in one hand, juice in the other, shoes off and in full-on lounge mode. We were able to chill out like we were in our own homes and recharge on the 3-seat sofas and that’s what makes the space so different to other’s, you genuinely feel at home.
Over the past year, I have been renovating my house and as a result we have been completely sofa-less. We have two sitting options right now; a hardwood chair in the kitchen or the bed. Neither is ideal, which is why I have been obsessively sofa-hunting for a past few weeks. The problem I have been finding is a lot of the most stylish sofas are also super expensive. So when I spied the beautiful quilted chairs and plush sofas in The Apārtment I rushed right over to the team to ask where they were from, I was kind of shocked to discover they were from DFS as they look and most importantly, feel, so luxe. They told me to check out their website as they have some amazing items which are all super affordable. I was so impressed, I even followed them on Instagram so I could keep an eye on their new arrivals as well as see all the sofas in styled up homes for inspo. I totally have my eye on the blush pink Bailey Maxi Sofa and Arm Chair which is the exact style I was looking for, at a fraction of the price I was expecting to pay. They also have some beautiful Footstools in the same style, which I love. I also can’t deny how much I love this Betsy Heart-shaped footstool too! I’m still trying to convince my boyfriend that a pink velvet sofa is a good idea, but even if he doesn’t agree to that particular colour, I’m so happy to know that there are stylish and comfortable sofas at a reasonable price! Take a look at the snaps from The Apārtment and see what you think!
