Fragrance: New Twists On Old Classics

You know that feeling when your boyfriend grows a beard or buys a new shirt and you realise, ‘damn! I have a gooden here!’. That applies to beauty products too! Over the past few weeks, a handful of perfumes have been released which are all new twists on old classics which is making me fall in love with them, all over again!

DKNY Be Tempted perfume review

DKNY Be Tempted

The iconic DKNY apple has been reimagined as an evening fragrance; sexy, sensual and alluring. It’s a gourmand perfume which is filled with notes of red berries, rose, patchouli, liquorice, orange blossom, myrrh and of course, apple! DKNY Be Tempted is sweet, delicious, warm and addictive, it still has a bite and a freshness, just as you would expect, but it’s darker and richer. Whilst the original fragrance is like a juicy green apple on a hot summer’s day, Be Tempted is more like a fruit desert served with rich vanilla ice cream after a dinner date. Yum!

YSL Black Opium wild edition

YSL Black Opium Wild Edition

YSL’s Black Opium was released last year as a reimagined version of the classic Opium. It’s sweet, sexier, less heady and generally a little more modern than the original. A year on, Black Opium hasn’t changed but the bottle has had a make-over. For a limited period you will be able to buy Black Opium Wild Edition, which comes in a animal print bottle which makes this perfume even more fabulous than the classic. I have an extremely fabulous BFF who will very excited about this one!

DSQUARED2 Want Pink Ginger

DSQUARED2 Want Pink Ginger

If you don’t know DSQUARED2 Want yet, it’s time to track it down and give it a go! It’s a real favourite of mine as it’s filled with spicy notes of ginger, pink pepper and balanced with rich florals of rose and neroli on a base of warm amber and sweet vanilla. It’s wonderfully unique and very cool. This month sees the release of DSQUARED2 Want Pink Ginger which has all the contrasting sweetness and spice of the original, but a little more zing at the top of the fragrance with lemon and tangerine. Oh and the already fabulous bottle top is now pink!

Do you like it when beauty brands give their iconic products a make-over?

I actually like that perfume brands do it. My long time favorite J’adore from Dior made more romantic (?) edition to classic ones.
