London Fashion Week: Lavazza X Mother Of Pearl
London Fashion Week can be a pretty stressful time, the days are long, there is a lot of queuing, waiting and then… lights, camera, action and the show is over before you have hardly had a second to remove your lens cap! Thankfully, Lavazza are always on call with their awesome coffee to keep up our spirits and energy levels up, even when it’s raining. And my, it rained a lot this season!
Lavazza X Mother Of Pearl
Every season, Lavazza team up with a designer to produce a limited edition cup design based on their collection. These cups can be found all over London Fashion Week and London Fashion Weekend (Lavazza serve around 30,000 cups of coffee at these two events) as well as backstage at some of the shows. Last year Lavazza partnered with New Gen Designer Ryan Lo (which you can read about here), this season, with the support of the BFC, the honour went to Mother Of Pearl. Who’s designs and prints are feminine and chic which are also a little playful and have a slightly darker motifs at times. This seasons cup features a beautiful traditional style floral design with a pearl diver, serpent and tiny eyes hidden within the leaves. The print came in two different colour ways, pink and black. Did you spot them during LFW?
Mother Of Pearl ‘New York Stories’
I headed down to the impressive venue at Christ Church in Spitalfields and before the show I had a little time to get a coffee with the girls from Lavazza. I spent a little time taking some photos of the models preparing for the show, getting hair and make up done and doing the run-through. Afterwards, we headed to the front-of-house and watched the show. The collection was absolutely stunning and I wish I could have captured quite how beautiful it was, but it was super tricky lighting, so please do excuse my poor skills. The make-up was by MAC and the show was inspired by the precocious 12 year old girl Zoe from the film series ‘New York Stories’. Zoe dresses head-to-toe in Chanel and wears smeared red lipstick which was applied in a cab on her way to school.
