Home: Starting To Accessorise

When my boyfriend and I decided to buy a house, I thought the major spend would be buying the house (well, putting down the deposit!). I had no idea that was just the start of it, over the past few months I have discovered a vase, bedside lamp or coffee table can easily cost as much as a designer handbag and don’t even get me started on the waste paper bin I was lusted over, until I discovered it cost £800! That’s right folks, I have expensive taste in homewears! Despite this, I couldn’t be happier that after weeks of painting walls candy colours, it’s finally time to start accessorising our house!

The Challenge

My friends at George challenged me to accessorise a coffee table with a budget of just £100. This was to include the tables as well as the accessories to put on it and I span #TheWheelOfGeorge to help me pick out the colours of accessories. I wasn’t sure if it could be done and if it was possible, I was doubtful it would match my aesthetic. Oh how wrong I was! Let’s look at what I found, shall we?

Coffee Table

This coffee table cost just £39 which is crazy! I love the sleek white table top and the simple wood legs. It has a modern-retro feel and slightly Scandi look to it too. It’s simple, stylish and feels really sturdy as well. I do worry that over time the white table-top may scratch as it has a high gloss finish, but If it does, I might give it a bit of a make-over with some spray paint.

Lemon Vase

Potentially my favourite item of the bundle! This lemon vase is so cheerful I absolutely love it! It’s much bigger than I expected it to be and feels really well made. The finish on it is perfect too; the colours are true and the paint job is great. If I had seen this in a vintage shop, I would have expected it to cost around £50, instead it cost £12! FYI, it is a similar quality to the Cactus Vase which I bought from a local homewears store for £35.

Coffee Maker & Mugs

OK, so I admit, I can’t actually use this La Cafetiere coffee maker yet as I don’t have a hob to make it on, but when my kitchen is *finally* fitted, I will be making all my coffee in this beauty! Also, the green mugs are the perfect shade to set off the yellow of the vase and the red of the coffee maker!

Yankee Candles

As we all know, I am a scented candle addict and no surface is complete without one! I had no idea you can buy Yankee Candles at George which is why I scooped up two, Fruit-tini and   Peach Smoothie. At £9 each, I couldn’t resist adding them into my basket and the colour of the Fruit-tini candle works perfectly with my colourful coffee table accessories!

And there we have it, my brand new coffee table and accessories, all from George and all cost under £100 combined (with the exception of the cactus vase and succulents which I already owned). Tweet me or comment below to let me know what you think!

I love this! I have to admit I spend far to long in ASDA looking at the home stuff – you can find some real gems.

I have the same cactus vase! What good taste you have 😉 I picked mine up in Selfridges when I was down visiting London for the weekend. I paid £40 for mine though 🙁
I think Asda’s homeware range is always pretty awesome, they do a really good job in keeping up with keeping up with trends and their prices are really fair for the quality. I often find myself heading there to buy cushions, bedding and accessories (as well as clothes) rather than my food shop!

I have that exact same vase! What great taste you have 😉 I picked mine up from Selfridges when I was down visiting London for the weekend. I paid £40 for mine though 🙁
I think Asda do an awesome job with their home-wares. They do well at keeping up with trends and introducing fresh looks, and the price is really fair for the quality. I often find myself heading there for cushions and accessories (clothes too) more than I do for a food shop!

Hey! Thank you for stopping by! It’s possible my case was £40 too, but I just have the number £35 in my head, but I might be wrong! I don’t want you to feel like you have been ripped off!
I love the George homewears, but the lemon vase is my definite favourite! It’s just SO cool!!!!!!!!! Xxxxxxxxxx

P.S I totally got an ‘Error 405’ when posting my first reply, so rewrote it! Now I look like a crazy person having posted twice with similar but slightly different posts. Apologies!
