Beauty: Five Great Sun Creams

NUXE Sun Delicious Lotion SPF 50

 Five Great Sun Creams

I’m embarrassed to admit that last weekend I got sunburnt. For realz. I woke up in the morning and it was cloudy, I got dressed and headed out the door with tights, boots, jacket and of course, sunglasses. It was the day of the #MargatePhotoWalk and I should have known better. Yes, it was cloudy when I woke up, but it was sunny by lunch time and we walked around town taking photos for about three hours. By the time I got home, I was hot, grumpy and my arms and chest were feeling a little like they had seen ‘too much sun’. By the evening my skin was radiating heat and the bottom half of my forearms were red as was a small triangle of my chest. Let me remind you, I’m a prude and I don’t bare much skin, but still, it was rubbish getting sunburnt. I spent he evening coating myself in Dermalogica’s Aftersun and the next few days avoiding the sun. The point to this whole story?! Don’t get caught out, wear sunscreen. Even in the UK, it’s important. Even if it seems cloudy, wear it, our climate is changeable and it’s important! Here are five great suncreams:

Dermalogica Sport SPF 50

Dermalogica Sport SPF 50

One of my all-time favourite suncreams. I have rattled through tubes and tubes of this stuff! This Dermalogica Sport Suncream might be factor 50, but it applies with the same ease as a body lotion. It soaks in super fast, no white marks, weird scent, greasy feeling or stickiness. It’s light, comfortable and convenient. Brilliant! The Aftersun is also amazing!

Lush Sesame Suntan Lotion

Lush Sesame Suntan Lotion

When you are looking for light protection from the sun, this Sesame Suntan Lotion from Lush could be exactly what you need! It blends the natural protection of walnut leaf, with the cooling and soothing properties of Aloe Vera, along with cocoa butter and sesame oil. It smells deliciously woody and nutty, just as you would expect from sesame and it gives your skintone a warm, healthy look. Vegan friendly and perfect for those who have super sensitive skin. Super comfortable for every day use.

 Balance-Me-Natural-Protection-Moisturiser-SPF25-5

Balance Me Natural Protection Moisturiser SPF25

If you are looking for a natural sun protector, but you need something a little more heavy duty, this Balance Me Natural Protection Moisturiser SPF25 could be ideal. Again, it’s 100% natural, so if you have super sensitive skin it could be a great option. It’s quite thick and needs a little longer to absorb, but for a high-factor natural suncream, it can’t be beaten!

NUXE Sun Delicious Lotion SPF 50

NUXE Sun Delicious Lotion SPF 50

Another big favourite of mine, this NUXE Sun Delicious Lotion SPF 50 really does smell delicious. It gives great sun protection with the added bonus of that classic summer scent of Nuxe. It’s tthe same scent that made us all fall in love with their Huile Prodigieuse oil; Sweet Orange, Tahitian Gardenia and Vanilla. Light, comfortable and fast absorbing, it has a super luxe feel to it. FYI, I wore this when I was in Amsterdam at Open Air Festival, it was hot and sunny, with no shade all day and I didn’t get even a little burnt thanks to this cream!

Sachajuan Hair In The Sun

Sachajuan Hair In The Sun

OK, so this isn’t a sun cream for your skin, but it’s one for your hair, and that’s almost as important, especially if you have had a pre-holiday dye-job. Sachajuan ‘Hair In The Sun’ can be applied to hair, wet or dry to protect your hair from the sun and keep your colour the way your colourist intended!

Comment below and let me know if you have tried any of these summer skincare products, or if you have found a sun screen which doesn’t feel like a sun screen, I really want to know!
